Not sure if you'll see this but how did you determine the length and location of the steel tabs you made to mount the gas springs? Did you just open the door and mount the springs at full extension?

Kinda guessed on the mount by looking at two other smokers I saw. Started by tacking the mounts on the door until they worked the way I wanted them to. All trial and error.

Just went back and looked at the receipt, it was 140 lbs.
