Gas Tax Is Killing Us!

Gas taxes take up 25% to 33% of how much we pay for gas. It's all about "Carbon Tax" to help the environment (allegedly) - or is it just another government tax grab?

Heh - we pay £1.58p per litre here in the UK that's. $7.54 a gallon. 52.6% of that is tax.

@@RevLexus Of course! One of my wife's English cousins got married last summer. Naturally, we flew over for the wedding. We flew first into Ireland and drove from Dublin, to Cork, then back up. Then we flew to Manchester, and drove to Burnley, then back to Manchester for the wedding, and up into Scotland before flying out of Edinburgh. I also studied in Germany and recognize the taxes. However, in each case, you in the UK have free health care and well-maintained roads. We don't have that here on this side of the pond.

Even if the Carbon Tax was removed today, you would not have saved much. When you drive the big cars with big engines, you have to pay the price, and with gas going up worldwide, you will lose on resale as well. Why not keep the AMG and lease a nice Toyota Prius hybrid for driving around town and getting groceries etc. They look awesome now, and are great cars. They are rated at 4.8 liters/100km which is 58 mpg. That gives you the best of both worlds. They come in hatchbacks and AWD as well.
