@@Hope-Truth-Light In a way you're right but I see it as he took the govt's place as the tax collector, not stealing from the govt, because the govt has as much of a right to that money as he did, which is none. The amount of money he made just from doing that shows you exactly how much money the govt steals itself and how wasteful its spending is.

You usually get less for stealing billions and the government will even bail you out and give you more money for free. Reason being a million dollar business can go but when a billion dollar business goes belly up it usually has huge repercussions on the public and economy.

@Rome O --Jordan Belfort ("the Wolf of Wall Street") stole at least a hundred million; he did 22 months. I guess it all depends on how you steal it and who you steal it from. Still the amount doesn't seem to matter after a certain, rather small threshold.

DR OTO. Isn’t ripping off tax basically ripping off money that would go to government spending on citizens and taxpayers?
@andrewactingwayne
@andrewactingwayne 5 жыл бұрын
@@vaporz109 No. The government/politicians are doing the exact same thing & worse with the incoming $$$ from We the People. To quote a famous line in a movie that holds a ton of truth: President: "I don't understand, where does all this come from? Where do you get the funding for all of this? Julius Levenstine: You don't actually think they spend $20,000 on a hammer, $30,000 on a toilet seat, do you? (speaking about the government) Movie, Independence Day. Here's a little snippet of the idiocy I personally dealt with while doing a job for a government entity a little over a decade ago. I was a general contractor out in Colorado for many years & I got the opportunity to place a bid on replacing front doors for a dozen-ish units in an apartment building that fell under one the governments low income housing programs. (Government funded & the government was footing the bill on this work to be done.) So I'd only been in business as a general contractor for a few years at this point so I had zero idea about how the government worked and bidding on government contracts. Mind you this took place in small town Colorado so being a contractor like you get out here in Los Angeles that tell a customer one price and then just have all kinds of add-ons and by the end of the job it cost three times what they told the customer originally, would not fly in a small town & you'd be out of business within a matter of a month. So being prudent and an honest general contractor I did the research. Negotiated the costs for the steel entrance doors down for these apartments and figured out what the labor would be on each door and that came to about $180 for the doors and about $130 for the labor per door. So I turn this bid in to the apartment manager who would then forward it on to the government program for approval yay or nay and the second she looks at my proposal she says "I don't know, this can't be right $310 per door? They'll never approve this, you sure you don't want to change this!" Me being young & naive I start defending my bid and show her the breakdown, this is what the material cost, this is the labor and I'm about to tell her I suppose I can do it for $25 less per door, thinking I had padded the bid too much but a few words into to telling her that, she cuts me off and says "No no last last time it was over $1700 per door & that was 10yrs ago. Now, totally baffled, I double check with her that I had estimated the correct doors & I did. So I tell her well, this is the cost to do it & they should be happy I'm saving them bookoo bucks, go ahead and send it. She does and calls me a day or two later & tells me my bid was rejected. She tells me if possible resubmit another bid because 2 other contractors still hadn't turned in their bids yet & I still might have a chance. I talk to my uncle that evening, who was the #1 general contractor in the area & had been in biz for over 3 decades about it all because I'm morally conflicted with over charging by $1,000+ per door. Which he thought was hilarious being that it was for a government contract. So long story short I resubmit the bid at $1,472 per door, mind you it was about a dozen doors & each one took approx 2 hrs to install. I end up getting the contract and about a week after the job was completed I get a letter in the mail from the office of the governor of Colorado at the time thanking me on a job well done & for saving that government program money that can now be used elsewhere. I shit you not, the letter said they didn't think it was possible at that price point per door but took a chance on me because their budget was already in dire straits & the other contractor estimates were higher than their budget had. Made over $12,000 profit in 2 days. That is the ignorance of & how out of touch government offices are with reality and that crap is going on with all gov programs across the board etc.

You would have to be crazy to think he didn’t stash millions of dollars all over the place. Even if he personally only profited 1 million per year over the 8 years that nearly 1/2 a billion dollars. His kids kids kids will still have money. It’s really crazy how people can scam this kinda money with some massive scheme and get minimal prison time but some nobody gets caught with a small amount of drugs and they are in prison for 20 years.
