Some very informative videos you are showing Alan and the engineers great tips. Unfortunately most customers don’t understand the difference of a good and bad installation. When pricing to replace a boiler with a dirt mag. Correct gas sized pipe. Good quality controls. Power flush.Chemical clean. Hot flush cold flush and inhibit system. I have priced my self out of the game.

I totally agree, the customer is only interested in the price. They are not bothered whether it’s been flushed out, commissioned etc

Great video Alan. I like what you said about working alone most of the time. It can be a lonely place. One downside is there is no peer help or advise when needed unlike doing site work as part of a team. I'm glad someone highlighted this. Keep up the great work and again thanks for those videos.👍👍👍👍

Good video and good tip to scavenge an old lead as a test lead - a worthwhile improvement would be use Wagos (221) at the test point end as they do grip test point probes without use of a tool.👍

Great video.. great tip on the FGA testing point.. but looking at the length of all the hoses an then onto FGA would this loose some of the readings or not even get a true reading
@kevincranfield52354 жыл бұрын
It works perfectly, you could shorten the length of the hoses if you wish. The pump on the analyser is very strong and can easily draw the POC into the unit.

Good tip on the thermistor leads. Sometimes struggle to get a good connection, on certain boilers. And trying from the PCB connection isn't always possible due to, micro connector plugs. To small to get the tip, of your probes into!

How about testing a three wire combi flow switch as well? Very handy to know. I have seen these being replaced unnecessarily as the serviceman did not know how to test them. The problem was elsewhere. Heating Geek does one on Vaillant and one on W-B. Vids not that good to be honest.

Hi Alan. I am not a plumber but find your work and the plumbing industry interesting. I have a question about boilers: When a 25 year old gas boiler is changed to a new one, is it advisable/necessary to change the 25 year old hot water cylinder too? And would that include the controllers and thermostats? Thank you.
@AllenHart9994 жыл бұрын
New boilers will definitely be cheaper to run. Thanks

There is one test missing on the NTC thermister test, and that is leakage to case from the NTC element, usually expected to be in the 10 Megohm + range, But will cause quite dramatic effects to the boiler operation, depending on the orientation of the connecting cables and the amount of leakage.
