@FTW completely agree! I own a 12V Cummins F250 myself and that thing is loud. At the same time, my daily commute is a Lexus hybrid, and I appreciate the efficiency, quietness of that car. The "noises excuse" group is just a bunch of ignorance. They refused to adapt and improve. So what if your car is loud, but slower than all the other quiet cars around you? The internal combustion engine is only at its best efficiency at 1 point of rpm. Even then it's still in the low 30%. Trains use a diesel to generate electricity to power an e-motor to move. They do that because the diesel could sit at its best efficiency rpm range.

probably the biggest challenge with the "instant" full torque electric motors provide. The torque "curve" is more like a torque plateau starting from zero..

@@AttilaThebung While I like that they used the same drivetrain as the IC variant for the purpose of a test bed for an "e-crate" motor, it adds a lot of additional challenge for tuning starts. A pure electric design could leverage duty cycles to get every watt of power to the pavement, and a pure IC design could use a mix of brakes and cylinder dropping to accomplish the same, but together you seem to end up with too many knobs and it seems to have complicated finding the "sweet spot". I do look forward to them getting it dialed in though.

I'm really torn. I can't help but respect the technology and performance of the E-stang. But angry and violent noises made from exploding fuel is a major part of MY experience. I hear ya. I'm an older guy, but I geek out on the newer electrics, personally. I got into electric on a smaller scale via RC brushless when it was pretty new tech and I always predicted that electric people-moving cars would be amazing. Happened sooner than I expected. It's new and I understand that many don't like electrics, but really, when you get into it, there are ways that electrics do get modified. Higher torque motors, faster discharge batteries to let that power hit the motor faster, etc. My old RC car didn't come with a brushless motor. I converted it and overcoming the problems that came with all that torque was fun. Having to tighten the clutch, stripping out plastic gears and having to replace with metal, balancing spur and pinion gearing to balance speed with heat issues. It was really fun. I think once people embrace the electric technology, people will find new ways to battle on the track... way to modify. On these cars, the guy mentions a transmission and torque converter. I heard before that many electrics are direct drive. I'm surprised they used a transmission.

Electric is to powerful with too much torque and boring. Yes the electric motor is a magnetic 2 stroke rotary and them Yasa motors make like over 6hp per lbs. So what like like my 2 stroke chemical fuel engines. On ethanol the gas 2 stroke runs cooler than them electrics.

I realize that co2 emissions need to be reduced but consider this will the increase in electric generation that is going to b needed to recharge all the new electric batteries going to increase co2 emissions beyond the 12% co2 gas powered are responsible for now in Canada or slightly higher % in the US ? I actually see a much higher amount of co2 with infrastructure built for electricity distribution let alone production of electricity as well as electricity may seem some what cheap wait till governments tax the shit out of kilowatts with carbon tax due to coal , natural gas, diesel being burned to produce the increase demand for hydro because only so much is water fall produced and do we really want more nuclear energy plants?

Watching on the live TV broadcast. Race one. Tony Pendragon driving the gas powered CJ left early, red lighting giving Tasca the win. Race two. Pentwon won the race. Race three was delayed due to rain. I'm recording the broadcast, so I'll see who wins the best 2 out of 3. Win or lose. The Battery powered CJ is amazing for it's first time out. It will only get faster as Ford performance gets the data to increase power. Battery or gas. The Cobra Jet is an amazing drag racing Mustang.

How long does it take to get a Charge? Price difference between the two? When they make an Electric car that can be back on the road as fast as filling the tank with gas i might think about one. I still prefer the sound of a big block High HP V-8 rumbling away

still its not gonna last more runs than the pump gas version. probably 3 or 6 runs before the batteries are flat, for a gas car, around 7 to 8 runs depending on fuel consumption

Computer dianostics could pinpoint the problem in seconds. Probably would be much easier to replace a component in an electric car vs. a grenaded gas powered car.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Cobra Jets are not street legal. Pure drag racing cars right? Being an all electric doubt there is a lot of room for tuning/modifying, If I can't modify my race car half of the fun of driving the car is gone.
