0:45 0:46 perfect example of animation that made 80s-2000s mecha anime so damn cool. Modern anime would never put so much effort into such a tiny in-between shot (generally). It gets across so much about the physicalness of the object in less than a second of animation.

This is why a lot of people like anime. For myself it was the detail of machine, the clicking of gears, the hiss of hydraulics. Not just in anime, but in the special effects of good science fiction that told me we had the science and technology.
sometimes im not a fan of power armors over mechs but the technical detail to make thise feel real and believeable is nice

The TAs aren’t really power armor. They don’t mimic the pilot’s movement nor do they multiply force the way power armor does.

@@lancekidder9011 Power armor generally implies the operator's limbs extending into at least one set of the extremities. For instance a Landmate from Appleseed while being only slightly smaller than the TA from Gasaraki is a power armor rather than the TA being a small mecha. With the Landmate the pilot's legs are within the upper legs and the thorax and pelvis of both pilot and armor are in the same location. Also there is the drastic difference in piloting systems, a TA is heavily automated with the mecha's system making most movements and the pilot just pointing it in the direction they want to go and what to shoot at. Whereas a Landmate relies on the pilots ability to judge every aspect of maneuvers from aiming carried weapons to the amount of force applied to leap from one platform to another. Now the line get's blurry with telemetrically operated mechs like the AMP suit from Avatar or the Giant Robots from Robot Jox, but they're still mecha.

TAs are not powered armors They are in between powered armors and mechs Not quite a powered armor but not quite a full mech The Japanese TA keeping with Japan's pacifist ideals are lightly armed while Symbol Ishtar Mk II are heavily armed Both use bio-organic muscle tissue for their movement which bad for several reasons Namely its organic so it has to be grown and cultured where non organic material can be simply made

Oh, this. I bought the scale models for both of the main mechas (twice!) before I even watched the anime. The exterior of the models were fine but the poly-caps were horrendous. The anime is not that memorable for me but I'll give it another watch now that I remember its name again.

Damn this is more like base inspiration creative for amaim from Kyoukai Senki,Arm slave from Full Metal Panic and knightmare frame from Code Geass since both machine and cockpit are so small 🤯
@bebopobama468611 ай бұрын
The original Full Metal Panic novels came out a month before Gasaraki. This type of small scale mecha wasn’t something Gasaraki introduced. Back in 1985 Megazone 23 had the Garland, a transformable motorcycle design which had an even more cramped cockpit. I’m not sure exactly where the idea of such a small cockpit originated but it definitely wasn’t Gasaraki.

@@traphimawari7760Gundam almost never focuses on technical elements and has too much super robot stuff in it (my main gripe being overpowered prototypes). There are definitely pockets of grounded mecha military (MS IGLOO is my favourite), but the franchise as a whole, especially in modern time is pretty much just super robots.
