Evangelion's worldview is futuristic but feels somewhat old, which is the best. And the detailed animations of the equipment and firearms are wonderful.

Futuristic technology but still mechanical, not too virtual and nanometric

It's kinda like the Alien franchise. It is how the people in the 80's imagine the future would look like.

Well, after a disaster like the 2nd impact i can see technology evolving in a different way, stagnated for a while and progressing in a single leap. It's awesome.
@nabbster947 ай бұрын
That's the thing, it's not the future, it's like the year 2000s. Humans have just reversed engineered the creatures that have attacked them, And spendt the entirety of Human kinds resources and man power as a last ditch effort to save the globe, only for the leader of the project to be influenced by nepotism and telling everyone that his pathetic and useless son is going to be the one to pilot it and be the hero against his will. Not everyone knows this, but evangelion is a satire of mecha fights, kinda portraying more human and realistic responses to the absurdity the genera represents.

Well it’s set in 2014 so technically it’s in the past. They don’t have smartphones and other technology that we have because I assume most of the budget went to military weapons and specially the EVA project which by the looks of it it must be extremely expensive.

You would never get this same feel if it were recreated identically with CG or any modern artstyle. The details mixed with this older artstyle is what makes this the way it is. It simply can't be replicated in any other artstyle.

I've said this before and would say the same thinga again, "The details man the details! and its still too advanced for its time".
@DarkonFullPower8 ай бұрын
We would sadly learn, it was too advanced FOR THE FUTURE. It was in fact the last call for its time.

I love how they captured what monumental undertaking is to maintain the EVAs and Tokyo-3 itself while keeping somewhat grounded in reality. I guess that's what made the later Rebuilds movies lose a lot of the charm from the original series, at least for me. Nothing felt real.
@sheep86188 ай бұрын
This! Capturing how much effort is needed to maintain the EVAs makes them feel truly important and powerful, that they are really the last hope of humanity (well kind of). This is why I like EVA a lot more than other Mecha anime, well although EVA is not truly a Mecha anime but still. About the rebuild, I think part 1 and 2 is good, I love the Ramiel battle in the remake (Operation Yashima).

Remember those hundreds or thousand evas that somehow Gendo and Fuyutsuki were able to manufacture and mantain on their own while the world was a red mess for 15 years? Yeah, Rebuild did lose that realism in the name of pure spectacle💀

They don’t make animators like they used to, crunch and burnout caused by overworking the animation teams is killing the medium.

I could totally see that it's on their PC given all of the sound effects are layered on top of the video and it probably doesn't even sound like the original, if they even had those sound effects.

A lost art this has become.......nowadays animes are just cute static landscapes and backgrounds.....there are some exceptions here and there, tho......but if you make some research you'll see my point.

Just watched it, its not bad but... its craziest fking "psicological" anime ever, with a rly wierd story telling about cararcters trying to self accept with all the good and bad they have done and suffered, i dont recomend to be honest

@Airin2586 ай бұрын
This. It's my absolute favourite anime and top 3 favorite media in general, and i don't recommend it to anyone. Not because i'm elitist or something, but because many people come to watch it as normal mecha anime and then they get traumatic experience and depression attack. It's absolutely fine from them to want just some mecha fun, but eva is surreal and psychological in first place
