I’ve held this opinion for so long! When the fan of a fan album came out I was so blown away by his talent I went on a deeeeep Chris brown rabbit whole. I honestly think I can name maybe 3 artist of the current generations that could hold a candle to him. Because this man writes music like no one. He is a hit making machine. Because he actually writes these incredible songs. He might not be a producer even though I’m sure he could if he wanted to but still on top of the fact he can sing, dance, rap, write, paint, better than almost anyone, he can write incredible music he’s like if u combined nicki and Beyoncé into a super human. He’s going no where unless his addictions get the better of him. He’s amazing I don’t understand why more people don’t share this opinion. Truly, I know he goes a bit crazy with the women and drugs but that doesn’t change his talent. If we still give Michael his flowers Chris should definitely be recognized.

@19Sara Yager I consume his music, I consume Jacksons music, I’m very familiar with both. There’s no question Jacksons music is more universal, more diverse, and just straight up better and timeless. I dont deny CB’s talent, I even hear the argument that he’s more talented than MJ in certain aspects, but at the end of the day it’s the final product that matters and CB’s music just aint on that level. It’s like saying Adrien Broner is better than Floyd Mayweather because he’s more athletically gifted, that may be true but it’s inconsequential when it comes down to the final results.

MJ was polarising and one of a kind in his creativity and inventiveness in his music and dancing. But anything MJ can do, Chris can imitate to the same level. MJ’s dancing for one, he was iconic. Inventing the Moonwalk, the forward lean, perfecting the spin. He was a trailblazer for people like Chris Brown, but Chris can not only do everything MJ invented, but he can do things MJ can’t do. MJ can’t front flip to catch a beat, MJ cant outperform professional dancers in multiple styles. He stuck to his guns where Chris Brown excels all around. Chris and MJ’s vocals are vastly different and hard to compare. Chris brown has better ability in runs and vocal range, suited to an RnB singer, whereas MJ again stuck to his guns in his high notes and holding notes, more suited to 90s-2000s pop. And again, if the argument is how talented you are as a human, Chris Brown can level with professional NBA players in pro-ams in basketball, he paints giant murals and digital artwork that displays genuine artistic ability, he can act which MJ for one was not great at. There are so many levels where Chris Brown is legendary in all factors that MJ could never replicate. The final product isn’t music in this argument, it’s all forms of skill and creativity that a human can possess, and Chris simply has more.

So Prince is better because he can play instruments? Modern music technology requires skills that can’t be compared to traditional instrument form of production. Chris is able to produce, mix and master his own music which is the modern equivalent to traditional composition with way more complex potential. It doesn’t matter if you’re not interested in other forms of talent (which is what the argument is about), the fact is that in this argument, the most talented human, Chris Brown is more talented than Prince. Chris being a legendary triple threat in the arts is enough by itself to give him this comparison. Prince makes incredible music, but he can’t out-dance everyone, make incredible artwork, play any sport with high skill, show genuine acting ability.
