I've been collecting for over 20 yrs now & I've noticed that the half dollar coins that come from mint sets are thicker than those that are sent to the banks for normal circulation. The only logical conclusion that I have for this is to give collectors a bit more of a better quality coin. It's just noticeable once you've been doing this hobby for any length of time & have taken coins out of mint sets enough to notice the difference. You can clearly tell the difference with those '87's that you found. Great hunt & congrats on those finds!

That’s true. The proofs are thicker too. So when I see those thick coins I usually know it’s a mint set or proof coin. The 87s surprised me though. I see mint set coins a lot. Just not 87s.

I know. I have reported them 3 times and messaged them to take my content offline. They do not listen. As for timing. I was sick and had no voice for several days. You could hear it in my mixed coin hunt. I traveled 2 of the last 3 weekends and weekends is when I usually film my half dollar hunts. First week in Jan the bank didn’t get any halves so that cost me a week. Volleyball has started back up and that’s most of the travel and it consumes weekends and 2 nights a week. Life is just busy. I do what I can though.
