Loved this oldie!!! The old man buying the restaurant was in Good Sam with Gary Cooper. He also was driving bad in that scene. Good Sam is another cute oldie 🌷

I found out as a young family dishwasher, the scraping was the most important part for sure! I recognized the name and knew instantly that I wanted to see this, but I didn't fully remember that I used to read it in the comic strips sometimes!😁. It's an excellent movie! Thank you!🙂

There was a restaurant in the town that I grew up in, in the Okanagan Valley BC, called "The Elite". They had the best fries & gravy ever. As a child I went there with my friends after school throughout the 1960s & 70s and many years later I took my granddaughter there too. But the old owners & management are gone now. Things Change.

The comic strip was a delight, particularly the colour Sundays, which often veered into remarkable surrealist moments, not covered in this film. If made today, the only film-maker capable of capturing that essence would be Wes Anderson, whose quirkiness and sense of colour, composition and set design is perfectly suited to comic strip sensibility.

It was cute but I didn't find any laughs in it, tho i think the original meaning of comedy meant a happy ending, as opposed to a tradgedy, which meant a sad ending.
