Fucking movie was playing at the IFC. I almost went but then i was like, "Ugghh that's a fucking ride." So! I ended up watching it on the computer in HD. I have to say, it's in the same airspace as Seul Contre Tous, with the washed-out yellows and tired, rustic feeling. I do have a question or two or three... 1. Was the wife trying to kill both of them when she FIRST turns on the stove? It didn't "cure" itself as a thought in my head as attempted suicide until it was actually done. Was the first time an attempt and NOT an accident? Also, the door was closed. The husband opens it and realizes there is gas in the room. Did she close the door to kill herself alone? 2. This is a comment instead of a question. Gaspar should have had the child rummaging through the table and drinking the mix drink that she makes out of pills. To add to the tragedy. Just like he could have had the child in Climax sodomized instead of electrocuted. Would have been more cynical and nihilistic.

I just saw it, my best guess: at the very start it seems they are more in the same reality-tunnel, her dementia is milder, then it really kicks in when the screen splits (and then not too long after the son is astonished by how much she has declined in a few weeks)... showing that their worlds are no longer in unison
