@@sorencyrano1413 He is an actor, acting warmth in order to help the poor bastard director pull himself out of the slump. It's like Ken Jeong laughing out loud in a "Community" group interview to drown down the obvious tension between Chevy Chase and Dan Harmon.
@sorencyrano14133 жыл бұрын
@@naomiharbour7841 Or he gets it, and you don’t. I also find it quite telling that the leader of the Jewish Community in Denmark “got it”. He wasn’t offended. So the people that are Scandinavian Jews were not offended. In fact they understood what he was trying to say. Only the literal minded, Amercanized simpletons in Cannes didn’t get it. But you don’t have to take my word for what Skarsgård thought. He has stated it explicitly: “Well, I was there, and I spent a week defending him. At the press conference, he couldn’t get to the punchline, he forgot the punchline, and he sort of muddled up what he was saying. But he was in a room with people that knew him. Everyone knows he’s not a Nazi. So to him, it was a shock when the next day, every paper in the world said he was a Nazi. His kids came back from school asking, “Dad, are you a Nazi?” The cowardice of the film festival was the most embarrassing thing. They asked him to apologize, and he apologized. Not for the words he used, but for fucking up the press conference, basically. And then two days later, they banned him from the festival. That was the Cannes festival that was called “The festival of free speech,” because they had some Iranian directors that year. So the festival of free speech kicks him out for speaking.”

@@sorencyrano1413 Look, you rambling little caveman (that is my honest opinion of you, and if that offends you, you are a snowflake as well), the quote you just provided doesn't strengen your argument, but mine. The actor didn't think the director was funny, but he sympathized with him, hence the smile (and you can also see at the end when he drops his head, then pulls it up again towards von Trier forcing half a smile). Regardless of the repercussion, as a German (yes, I am that too) the remarks about Hitler and Speer were simply meritless and stupid.

I feel bad for Lars. The delivery is off but this is very typical Danish use of irony and sarcasm, which is common allover Scandinavia. @MichaelHolmgaard3 жыл бұрын
@@sonrisolprarebater As I said, he didn't delivers it very well 😅 But yes, Danish humor is the worst to many foreigners, and I don't blame anybody because it is very strange. Basically, it's all about saying stuff that you don't mean. And people understand that you don't mean it. So it's probably a cultural thing. Mads Mikkelsen did a bunch of very dark comedies in the 2000s, which explains it very well 🙈
@MichaelHolmgaard3 жыл бұрын
@Sigurd Shvedov It's a cultural thing in Scandinavia. We can say anything because people know we don't mean it. If you say "Okay, I am a Nazi" then you say it in a sarcastic way like Lars did here, and you know that it's just dark sarcasm. I get that it doesn't fly well anywhere else, but in Scandinavia it's very common to make Nazi jokes. I had a hard time assimilating into Germany, trying to get all the Nazi jokes out of my arsenal 🤣
