Well.... this was strange!
Gathering sheep in high winds and we find something rather unexpected.
Just another day in the life of a sheep farming family in South west Scotland.
I hope you enjoy!

ABOUT ME
I’m 31 years old and I’m a sheep farmer from Ayrshire in South West Scotland, which is why I have such a strong accent! I was born and raised on a sheep farm watching my dad who was the shepherd.
At 18 I went away from farming to work in the city (something I still do) and at 23 (2013) I decided I wanted to do something for some extra money so I went on a sheep shearing course. The hardest thing I’ll ever do was learning to shear sheep. [shudders thinking about it]
I shore whilst on my holidays from work for 2 years and then in 2015 my dad died so I decided to get my own sheep so I could continue working with sheep as it was something I loved doing. From there it escalated quickly from my first 4 sheep in my mum’s garden to now running around 600 breeding ewes.
I shore over 15,000 sheep this season in UK and I also travel to Norway for shearing in March and September. (Covid messed it up this year)
A few years ago I bought myself a sheep pregnancy scanner and have been building up my run since then.
I watched a few farm vlogs on KZbin and decided I could have a go and now here we are!
Thanks for watching my videos and please subscribe if you want to see more in future.

You work so hard! I am always amazed at the stamina all you Scots have and I wish I had your energy. I come from a strong Scot family and my Great Grandparents were part of the Highland clearance that came to Canada and pioneered Saskatchewan in 1884! Our family still attributes our strength and endurance to the Scottish blood in our veins! Lol. Baby Jock is going to be able to run like the wind on those hills chasing those sheep! I'm a fairly hardy person living in Alberta Canada. I would be out tending my sheep in temperatures between +30°C to -30°C. In the winter we had lots of snow as well. The biggest difference between yours and my weather is the sun is out a lot more here and the wind is not so bad. Although in the past 5 years we have been getting a lot more high windy days like you were having in this video. Your kid is doing just fine thanks to mom. I'm sure she is warmer too. This is the first time I have seen you wearing gloves!! That does impress me. My hands would have been frozen all those times you didn't. Great show, thanks. 🇨🇦

I live in northern Minnesota and we are no stranger to temperatures of -50* Fahrenheit. That said, that wet driving wind was absolutely brutal!!!! People also need to remember that predators in Canada and UK are probably quite different. Sandi has specifically cited coyotes as one of her reasons to farm in an open barn. Their area coyotes are used to feasting on the deer that eat the fallen grain so it’s a challenge to prevent coyotes killing sheep.

I live about 1 1/2 hrs. north of Sandi. I was a school bus driver in Bruce County. Here, along the Great Lakes, we have lake effect storms in the winter. We can have days of white out conditions where you can't see a few feet in front of you. We can have 3to 4 ft. of snow for 4 months & for a few of those months are very cold, down to -30 degrees Celsius, the sheep wouldn't be able to feed. This is why Sandi keeps them in the barn.

Are all Scots such nice people? It must be the weather-like you said, it makes you hardy. Also, it must make you mellow. Great video. Everyday work is interesting to those of us who know nothing about your country or raising sheep in what appears to be the hinterland. If you have not, watch Eric from 10th Generation Dairy Farm. His videos are all about the day to day chores and maintenance of running a dairy farm in southeast Pennsylvania.

Cammy being from Canada you always have to find a way to get work done in the snow like shoveling & cutting wood with a lil babe all bundled up under the jacket nothing wrong with that it's life! The weather there in Scotland is the same as here in Nova Scotia! You never know what it will do some days we can get 4 seasons in one day so we dress for it all lol...... Maybe that's why we were called New Scotland when founded because it reminded some people of home like my great Grand Parents 🐑🇨🇦

That pasture looks like my backyard. Rural Oklahoma edition. The native grasses put up tall spires and clump so much you can't mow them with your lawnmower. Thanks for showing me that Oklahoma isn't the worst place in the world to live. That would be Antarctica. It's easy to see why people from the UK settled here. Stay warm! And have a great holiday season.

I am watching the Sheep Game because Sandi recommended it. She never disappoints. You are very entertaining and informative. Being from Canada the snow during our storms don't stick since it is usually -20 to -30 Celsius. I think the wet, windy weather is colder feeling.

Our farm had no flat ground at all. Good soil, but steep rolling ground. Farming it was always a challenge. We had to judiciously practice soul conservation with our row crops, so our top soil didn't wind up in the ponds or creek bottoms. The cattle loved it. Me not so much, but we made due. Our cows could be on the farthest back pasture, and I could open the feed bin for the molasses corn feed mix, and they would all come on the run. Could have used the sound for background for the cowboy song "Ghost Riders In the Sky!" 🤣

I've got hearty genes from both sides lol. Your baby looked unfazed by the weather and if y'all aren't worried neither am I 🙂. This video was adventurous, thanks Cammy! 🙋🏾‍♀️

Keep Sandi in your prayers. Something’s going on with her health, I’m guessing. I enjoy the difference in how you treat your lambs.

Man are you guys tough! 😄 All that wind and snow and you had bare hands to fill up your medicine bottle! Add to that those wild ol’ shetlands… I believe you’re right, you Scots are a tough breed! BTW, wee Jock is definitely a cutie. He’ll grow up a lot healthier than us city dwellers. I haven’t commented in ages but I still love ❤️ your channel. 🐏🦘🐨

Your day looked like winter in our area! We had very mild weather last year and this year we have had nothing but horizontal snow and sub-zero weather. It makes for healthy sheep with fewer health problems. But I also changed my Winter feed system that has lowered the worm load to almost zero.

@The Sheep Game Cammy, there are dog collars with radio receivers so you can use a walkie talkie to give commands over a long distance. They might be ideal for days like this.
