Finally a video that seems like a decent explanation of the game!

Thank you very much! I saw Four ladies playing this at the senior center call while I was waiting for my mah-jongg partners. It really looks interesting. Thank you for the Printer page

Thank you!! We don't play very often and then we spend so much time relearning. :) I LOVE the printable guide. Taking that with me today for when we play.

my MIL and her sister taught us this game. they do have a few rules that are different. if you pick up from discard you must take a total of five cards and use the top discard in a meld immediately. black 3's do not freeze the discard. red 3's are not exchanged but discarded; they do count for 500 pts if left in your hand/foot when round ends. they also require you to have two clean and two dirty melds in first round; three clean/dirty in second round, and so on. I like this videos version much better.

What I found interesting about the GatherTogetherGames KZbinr is that in his older videos, he sounds calm and relaxed, but in his newer videos, he sounds loud and energetic.

It seems like the rules change a bit based on which website or video you watch. Most show a red 3 as either negative 100 or negative 300, and not a positive value at all.

Thanks for the Great explanation of Hand & Foot Canasta, however what would be the major differences in a 2 player game of Hand & Foot?
@blaineshores41843 жыл бұрын
The biggest difference is you’d only need 3 decks of cards. You only need one more deck than you have players.
@blaineshores41843 жыл бұрын
So we do some things a little bit different. We don’t give points for going out and red threes are -100 points. You don’t want them at all. Also you can collect the discard pile at any point so long as you are down on the board (meaning you have melded the requisite number of points)
@elizabethpetrie3066 Жыл бұрын
We award 800 points for 4 red threes! The rest of any red 3 r still a value of 100. Also if u have a red 3 in ur foot & are not able to get ur foot that’s 500 points off ur score. We start the meld at 50, then the next is 75 going up 25 points each round. If u have no canasta & ur opponents go out, everything is against ur score. Love this game, lots of tactics & chance! Good luck everyone & enjoy

Interesting twists. Unlike samba, this game does not allow sequences of cards in ascending order.

Great video, but with so many rules, I wish you could slow it down so that us newbies can follow. Thank you

How cool to find this! YES, played this game with some friends a few years ago - and I was reading found directions. But confusing to read. Thanks for the great video here! FUN game!

Thank you for the explanation. I had played hand and foot years ago and wanted to play again but couldn’t remember all of the rules.

Question... when scoring, should you subtract both the hand and the foot if the foot has not been used? Or subtract only the hand and ignore the foot?
@GatherTogetherGames2 жыл бұрын
You would subtract both the hand and foot

Question about scoring...last hand needs 150 to open. In my hand I have 7 4's...do I count that as 35 points toward the 150 or can I count it as a 500 point book and have enough to open?
@BrandenAllen9 ай бұрын
35. It's just the individual card value that counts for opening.

I actually own those type of playing cards. I have a bunch of New York Delis near me and they have those cards (blue and red).

Am I wrong or is this basically an enhanced version of Canasta?
@LeotheTiger12342 ай бұрын
This is indeed a Canasta variant.

Why did you discard the 5 when going out when it was playable? Can't you just play yourself out without having to discard?
