Thats an ordinary day of heavy rain in Gatlinburg. It'll be gone as fast as it came.

WOW, that's a whole lotta rain! Hope and pray all are safe and no flood damage. Beautiful rushing waters tho! Eric, really enjoyed your video. Shared on my community tab

It's obvious that in todays ever changing weather patterns, Gatlinburg and the surrounding areas will experience a flooding event sooner rather than later. Its just a matter of time I think.

That’s not flooding. That’s just a swollen river.

I lived there until the early 90's I've seen water over the bridges on River Rd. It was higher than this video but it never made it onto the main drag. Thanks in part to the original people who built the retailer walls.

Get ready for massive crowds and insane traffic. We were in Gatlinburg today, didn't get out of our vehicle. Been coming here since our honeymoon in 1978. Here til Wednesday, won't go back to Gatlinburg.

Thanks so much. It will be busy. As you are probably aware, you are traveling to one of the most visited vacation destinations in the country on one of its busiest holidays. We used to hit the Gatlinburg NYE fireworks every year, but since we've moved here we now take in the fireworks and festivities at the Mountain Mile. Much easier to get in and out. Pack your patience and you will be fine. It's beyond me why some folks are surprised by the traffic, especially those who have been coming for decades.

Eric, Does the intensity of the water rise over a certain amount of time, or does it come more like a flash flood when this much rain occurs? Thanks for sharing.

As of the posting of this video the water is already receding. It rises and falls quickly here at the base of the mountains.

We were supposed to drive home to Florida today... we chose to stay in Sevierville till tomorrow. You think that 441 will be reopening?
@SmokyMountainFamily2 күн бұрын
They are very cautious when closing and reopening Newfound Gap Rd. However, the high wind warning ends tonight. Perry good chance it will open sometime tomorrow. They normally post it on the park website around 10 am.

@@SmokyMountainFamily thank you very much for that I think we are actually going to go the way of Chattanooga and then down 75 but I'm definitely going to stop at Rock City garden for the heck of it. Google maps decided on our way here to take us down the tail of the dragon! It was a surprise to all of us my husband and I handled it well even though we come from Florida I do love my mountain roads and that was on my bucket list but not with my 10-year-old in the car at night lol without our knowledge too in winter. My dad would be so proud of me. I will say the Foothills parkway at top of the world was pretty epic and I'm glad I saw that at night same with the overlook to Gatlinburg.
