The scene does show the clones starting off as an image, before being filled in by the virus that is Deoxys. The clones are like a virus replicating itself, with a bit of bee mentality. The OG Deoxys is the only one who can make the clones, and while the clones have some instincts, the OG is still the one in charge. I also think thats how its regeneration and biology works, its body is a bunch of viruses under the control of the Deoxys core. It can regenerate through cellular division, because its entire body is made up of the viruses as well. This also explains why the Deoxys clones don't have cores, the viruses are their own being, but are still being commanded by Deoxys, just from a distance.

Really it is just RNA cloning, a process that cells already do. This explains the discoloration, the soulless eyes, the clones inability to use moves, how they can be taken out with a good hit, and how Deoxys can make an unlimited number of them. For some strange reason Bulbapedia counts these clones as a usage of double team.

@@FukuritaMariko there is quite a difference. Double team uniformly are illusion based energy projections, moves can be done through them and they have no solid presence. This is just outright RNA cloning, a process that cells already do to create proteins and the like. It makes sense that Deoxys does this because it is one gaint DNA strand. The RNA clones have a physical presence and moves cannot be done through them, making their characteristics fundamentally different, and it never appeared that Deoxys was using an actual move to do this.

@@GatorEX I do kinda like how all the advanced magic and technology are sorta in the background which is pretty much how it should be. Though their insistence on the aesthetic is becoming an obsession at this point. Gen 7 was an attempt but I think they missed a few steps by not fully thinking the whole concept out first. I guess that is among the peculiarities with the world of pokemon. The impossibly advanced technology and magic is there in the background and the ordinary for those who wish to pay attention, but never to the point that it becomes the focus or really notice, so it doesn't take away from the values of that world. At least that is ideally how it should be and at some point it seems they lost that.

The scene where Rayquaza just murders Deoxys is a brilliant piece of animation. Depxys never ONCE changes expression that I’m aware of but the light coming off the Hyper Beam gives the illusion that deoxys is having a “oh shit” moment it knows it’s can’t stop

What's interesting is that these clone Deoxys, or at least something similar actually had another appearance. In Mystery Dungeon Red/Blue Rescue team and it's remake there is a dungeon where the only pokemon that appear are these weird almost translucent versions of Deoxys in it's alternate forms that are much weaker than the real one. The whole gimmick of the dungeon is finding the real Deoxys to move to the next floor. It's interesting these clones actually had another appearance, in a game no less.

These clones also appeared in Temporal Tower in the sequel games, if you had the Secret Slab/Mystery Part on hand. But since you can;t recruit any Pokemon in any of the "Hidden Land" dungeons except for DIalga, it really wasn't anything more than a cool easter egg.

I loved this movie! It's such a unique take on deoxys and fits its lore nicely. This movie was my first introduction to doexys as a kid, and I fell in love with this Pokemon. The incomplete duplication was eerie and cool at the same time, but I've always wondered if deoxys can make more complete clones. My guess is yes, and just showed the clones like that to help viewers distinguish them from the real deoxys. Since it's literally based on DNA, I would think it could make more complete ones but idk. Nice to remember this movie.

I remember this movie better than all the rest. Maybe it is because of the focus of tech, extraterrestrials, and electromagnetism. I love the idea of mutated DNA, from a virus no less, being able to replicate itself. It removes obstacles that hinder it because it views in certain wavelengths. It repairs itself like how DNA tries to do so but fails, causing aging. The setting itself is also to my liking, being a technological metropolis. The Hoenn movies in general are the ones that I remember the most, from Temple at the Sea to Wish Maker, maybe it's the settings and characters that get me. The only other ones that I can even faintly remember are Cocoon of Destruction, Swords of Justice, the third movie, and the first one, all of which are visually great or iconic.

The two Deoxys from the movie are the first ones to arrive and mutate, the third arrived in the mountains not too long before Ash and the ranger encountered it and healed it by destroying the meteor it came in, and the fourth and so far final one was in that gaint meteor. They are recent visitors or rather inhabitants. They did not exist in ancient times and they have nothing to do with Jirachi or virus Groudon.

Pokémon Movie 7 is rated 7/10 for me! Deoxys is still interesting Pokémon and there are some good moments in the film, but the final climax was just not that great in my opinion. For me Pokémon Destiny Deoxys is the weakest of Pokémon Advance Generation Movies. If you think this movie the greatest Pokémon Movie in your opinion, that alright with me!
