Ally, last year Florida started one of the youngest defenses in America. It didn't take 3 years to practice right because they didn't know how to do it. The play and culture improvement in my view started in the second half of the Texas A and M game in my view. We were down 20-0 and count have folded. Yet we put up 20 points in the second half and we had 2 other drives that ended in INTs, one a pick six (potential 14 point swing). We lost by 13 in a game where we were a few plays away from making it a cliffhanger at the end. And we have pretty outplayed everyone we played since, even in loss to the Vols.
@rk41gator2 ай бұрын
Florida played two VERY good teams at the beginning of the season and yes, the players were not ready to execute at that level. The second half of A&M was much better. Is the defense 'gelling' at this time of the season? (execution) Were there big changes? no. The defensive players are reacting quicker. We will see against GA. No question DJ is exceptional. Hopefully against GA and TX he will be able to read the right options. Can Florida match up against these two? We shall see, but I don't think that will end all this hate for Coach Napier. Florida fans have always had expectations WAY beyond reality. Napier has not been given a fair shake after only his third season. His manner of coaching takes time to build the team he wants. Gator fans want instant gratification. Sad, but it is the culture at Florida. Give me a break! I HATE Lane Griffin after his disrespect to Coach Urban Meyer. No character, never pick that creep. EVER.

My criteria for Billy: He has to win 6 games this year and has to be close to winning the bowl game. If he gets smoked in the bowl game then do not invite him back for next year. It is not a matter of keeping Billy at this point it is a matter of whether we let him coach the following year. And the other part of the equation is what are the alternatives in the coaching realm.

Changes have to and will be made each and every game. The mark of a great team is what they look like after half time. The big positives about the Gators is last weekend's victory should have shut up all the negative Nancy's and stop complaining before this team matures. The stars of our team are teenagers, figure it out folks. Those who still want Napier's head on a spike, do you want to go through another 3 years of development again? Not this class of 77' Gator GRAD. We're still going to get handled by better teams, but NOT FOR LONG.

The defense is generally not the issue; great talent and good coaches. It's the offense. Some HCs can also call plays and kinda be the co-coordinator, but Napier is not one of them. If he doesn't understand that, FL won't win. Also, Napier seems to be disorganized and often confused.

Is it reasonable to think that Napier is learning on the fly? That he IS improving over time? And that he is learning or can learn that he has to stop being so stubborn? I don't think he's the long term answer, but I would love him to get one more year--it would be better for the program long term. I think beating Ole Miss or LSU could help with recruiting and keep guys from hitting portal. Right now--and only right now--we can create a narrative that Billy is on schedule to rebuild "the culture," is also improving as a coach, learning from his mistakes, and UF is a great environment to play college football. If--again, IF--we play the next four opponents competitively AND win a game we're not supposed to, AND beat FSU, i think recruiting will improve, and more guys will stay. For as bitter as I was after A&M, I'm remain hopeful that we are not as far off as it feels sometimes.

Do exactly what Kentucky did on D and run outside in against them. I wouldn’t run 12 personnel against because that’s playing to their strengths. I would spread out or run 11 personnel and still threaten them down field even if they’re trying to take that away. I’d RPO heavy offense with a slant bubble concept on one side and a back hitch that has conversion to a go route. I’d use Tre to stretch the defense East , West and vertically. I would make Georgia very uncomfortable. It’s not going to be as easy as ppl think

He has made to many mistakes in his decision making during the games! With the talent level being more equal now in my opinion it comes down to who developed their roster getting a good game plan ready and game day coaching and CBN definitely falls short of at least 2 out of 3 of these! Gator Nation may disagree with my take but that's ok this is just my honest opinion! GBO 🍊
