on our way back from the north of England to Germany, we called at Rushford Barn primarily to run the 9F. Thank you to Geoff Calver and his wife for a most memorable visit! Best viewed in 1080p HD!
Both locomotives in this film are built by Geoff Calver. Thanks for watching, Philip Hearn

Absolutely lovely video and great lighting - the golden hour? I can't imagine how much that must have set you back!

Thank you for your kind comments. Shot very early one December morning, we were extremely lucky with the weather. Before running the the locomotives (both Spirit fired) I had to scrape the ice from the track which warmed me up. Please don’t ask me how much the locomotives cost, if I told you you will fall over. After learning to drive the real thing, these models demand a bit of skill and a lot of attention like the real thing. The talented gentleman standing in the background in this film is in fact the builder. The lady with the camera, my wife. Thanks again for looking by, you have a great channel. Best regards from Germany!

I esp. appreciated the engine pulling the train backwards as too many of us can only imagine pulling the cars forward

@@schutendohkji548 thank you for your kind comment. As I was in the process of paying for my order, a run backwards is an important test to make sure the piston valve timing is good in both directions. These locomotives are live steam, and as such are very expensive models built by a very talented and proficient model engineer. This is basically a film showing the handover to me, the client after paying for his very professional work.

What a beautiful loco and a lovely set up with no large men sitting behind!

Thank you balmesh for taking the trouble to comment. The models in this film are exquisite, but sometimes I wish I had 5" gauge model of the same. Perhaps with rc, so that I don't have to sit behind it if you know what I mean. I share your sentiments entirely.

James Parks 27 Hi James, these are very heavy and intricate models. To get them in motion they have to be controlled just like the real thing. It’s like model railways on another level. The models can be expensive though. Things start around 6.000 to 10.000 USD but some people with access to a workshop build their own. However, there are some entry models available to help people get started. Thanks for looking by, and for your kind comment. Best regards from Germany!

Great track set up! What materials did you use for the elevated bench work? Looks pretty wet weather resistant, which I need here at the coast in Oregon.

Lovely locos are they coal fired?
@flippop101
@flippop101 6 жыл бұрын
Hi Matt, both locos in this film are spirit fired (Methylated spirits). Some people use coal in gauge one, but they take longer to fire, plus the dust from ash pan can get into the bearings Others prefer to use gas. Thanks for your comment. BTW like your channel!
