for real. i was stoked because i rolled a bloodied one thinking it'd be fun, but turns out it was just a toy.. the laser | uc laser | rifle/pistol could also be buffed quite a bit. you have to keep in mind these weapons can't be used effectively with the stealth multipliers, so they need something extra, or else they will never be used. some unique mechanic like in fo1/fo2 could be nice. in those games the laser was so-so but had this thing where critical hits ignored all armor. so yeah, when it critted it was lethal to say the least.

Use the perks to buff pistols. I used to think the plasma thrower was bad- then I changed it to a rifle. Now I have a pipe pistol that does 60 damage- good for just average looting and leaves pockets clean for more loot. Now I have a plasma thrower that melts things and a pipe rifle that does 175 damage. I can’t really see any reason to use the alien blaster unless I can make it into a rifle- but then you have the Tesla canon.

I’ve had pretty good success running an AA FFR mini gauss (non-primed) against SBQ and Earle. I’m full SS Uny (with max Heavy Gunner perks, although my build is Stealth Commando). With the great range of the standard barrel, I can fire from far enough away to stay in Caution, so my sneak bonuses result in about 70-100 damage per shot to those bosses.

I feel the same way man. It looks amazing the blue projectiles and the mods on the gun look amazing as well. Nothing wrong with getting something because it “looks cool” lol. Although I will say I just finally got it with no mods yet unfortunately from Minerva last week she was selling the gauss minigun for like 500 something gold bullion. Even with no mods and with certain perks this gun shreds through normal enemies like butter. I mainly only use it in adverse situations, like if it’s just me and 1 other person in the daily OP I will use it just to finish the OP in under 8 mins. Other than that I try not using it because like you said it goes through ammo way to quickly. Regardless I rate the weapon a 10/10 because I’ve always liked the gauss weapons ever since Fallout 3 Operation Anchorage DLC.

I know this comment is already 3 months old, but try the gauss shotgun in operations to farm ammo. You are able to farm like thousands of shots in a few ones because the shotgun oneshots most enemies with a decent set and you can pick up to ~24 shots again.

Thanks to you turtle, I discovered that my two shot faster fire rate gauss minigun has some use other than getting dust in my stash. It totally shredds normal enemies with the mods you mentioned, although I will never try it against bosses. 👍

i just learned the plan from Minerva last week and picked up a Quad 3* and an anti armour 3* with no upgrades and my goodness im having fun. i unloaded all my unused ammo into the old Converter to get ammo for it and ended up with about 4000 rounds and then tested it out finishing Beckets Quest in Watoga underground and i love it. its really well suited to a dungeon crawl, especially my Quad that has a 2000 round clip. you just never have to reload! and it had the firepower to rip apart anything i walked into in seconds which is what you want.

I just got this. It immediately became my favorite gun. So long as ammo weight and production can be managed I see no downside. I'm using it stock with no mods and rolled an Aristocrats that replenishes AP with each kill. So AP cost is not a factor. Comparing it with my AA Gatling Plasma they both do a good job but the feel of the Gauss can't be beat imo. Or the sound. The FR is perfect for the gun imo. It can be used effectively and easily at very close range. Its great with mobs and crowd control. The delivered ammo feels like its on a string, hip fire accuracy is excellent. It feels very connected. For me it's one of the most well balanced weapons in game. Holds 500 rounds in the drum and that's plenty as it's ammo efficient. I can't say enough about it. Does very well on all types of enemies at all events. Bosses like Earl or the SBQ? Not "the best" but l recently solo'd Legendary Sheepsquatch with it after a random encounter. What I notice is this gun staggers tough enemies like not many others and has the ability to stop them dead in their tracks. Legendary Sheepsquatch had no chance against it and could never get close enough to me to deal any real damage. Once I got the beast down to around 1/3 health it was completely beat and dropped like a fly. Big FUN is what this gun is all about. So far as ammo being expensive? If you have the acid to smelt lead imo it's actually pretty cheap. All it takes is lead and steel. Steel is readily available in the world and by scrapping weapons. Lead is easily mined at Lucky Hole. That's all it takes. With Ammosmith maxed, Ammo Factory at 100%, and Super Duper maxed I've crafted 22,000 rounds for it fairly easily. Imo...just my opinion...this is the most balanced heavy gun in the game. It just gets everything right, check all the boxes👍

i think if your using the gauss shotgun as a main build the amount of extra ammo you get allows you to us eone of theese for bosses with a quick build change, what i been doing anyway i know its not doing same damage as say a plasma but its still decent just a quick swap of the shotgun perks to heavy guns and swap in stabalized if you wana wear power armor and you have a reasonably strong heavy gun for bossing, mines only a 2star bloodied but does the job

My Vampires Gauss Minigun saves my bacon often the same way my Vampires explosive .50 cal does. I set it up based on your previous video and will try changing the barrel to see if I can increase the damage because as it is it lays down a lot of firepower but the damage numbers are way below my .50 cal. Took a while for me to _finally_ get Vampire added to my Tesla Capacitor Gauss Minigun... but it was definitely worth the hassle. I love it. Just wish it didn't chew through the ammo so quickly. =)

Last energy explosive heavy wapon left obtainable in the game. It’s totally worth the grind. By the way Ap on this wapon is quite strong for a heavy gun and very usable with a bloodied vats build.

The gun itself is great. I have a Vampire's FFR that I love. Does a ton of damage and is highly accurate. The ammo cost just isn't worth it for me, though. It's just easier to craft a bunch of Ultracite Fusion Cores for my Ultracite Gatling Laser than a bunch of 2mm ammo. Ultracite 2mm takes a ton of flux that I just don't have, so I can't even use the prime capacitor. The fact rhat explosions won't connect unless you shoot closer to the ground is terrible as well. I'm also surprised about Penta Barrel. I was always told Tri Barrel because Penta was bad.

I rolled a juggernot gauss minigun, which for my full health build is awesome! I now only carry this and my 2 shot fixer. The minigun does great on bosses, I took down 2 scorchbeasts at the converted ammo place, within about 3 minutes. I used the fixer for when they're farther away, and when they come up close they get smacked with ole "Blue Thunder." The ammo is a bit expensive, but if you're only using 2 types of ammo like me (.45 and 2mm) then its not so bad, just don't go all lead finger on the trigger like you're Rambo or something and you're golden. I use a Vampire Guass Mini, Prime, Penta. for SB, SBQ etc at closer range. It doesnt kill them super fast, but fast enough when I'm alone, and in a group it gives everyone time to tag, and the vampire effect I can literally tank anything so I'm not in a rush. At range, well I still prefer my Plasma Caster (I wish Bethesda would make a scope for it!), or the TSE minigun.

Pick the second option and back out when you kill the raider... That glitch still works. Kill raider got turn in the quest. Appalachia has a new corpse, immediately back out of the conversation. You get the rep and get to tell her again. Takes an hour or so to max rep

Do you think they will nerf the prime mod for the gatling plasma in a future update? The only reason the plasma is out damaging the gauss is because of the multiplicative damage bonus the plasma receives from the prime mod, where it gives the gun a huge boost as opposed the gauss minigun attachment where its prime capacitor is only additive.

I use a Vamp FF / Penta / Tesla capacitor 90% in PA every day 'only on legs' for D,ops bosses ..+ various .50cals for the different enemies, but mainly a Prime AAE .50 ..I carry about 700, 2mm, enough for 1 clip (650) shreds everything & always come out with more 2mm than I went in with and haven't crafted 2 mm for literally months, In fact after about a week I have to exchange 2mm in the ammo exchange..

Its an ammo hog and i only use it for flying enemies like sb as the gauss shotgun is useless against sb so i swap between the two and thank goodness i rolled a 90% reduced weight one so it doesn't eat up all my carry weight either

Doesn't Grenadier perk increase the blast radius of the guass projectiles? or did that get patched out because that should increase the blast radius to allow the blast damage to still trigger on a headshot out of VATS.

The legendary ammo crafting perk solves the ammo problem at max level of the perk I got about 67 I got one with the furious legendary effect which against boss enemies is extremely effective

Stack that perk with the ammo one from agility, and super duper from luck. With the ammo perk maxed out, and super duper at a 2, you can craft way more at a time and about 85% of the time it gets doubled by super duper, atleast for me.

It somewhat bothers me that Beth decided to give gauss weapons AoE (explosions). Would an inherent armor penetration + stagger chance not be better? Id rather have AoE on plasma weapons. Anyhow, i like gauss minigun, much better than plasma gatling (IMO). Aim is better, accuracy is better, feels like chargeup is faster too. The only downside is indeed ammo weight and explosions. The very first one i got was after crafting (i bought plans from Minerva), rolled AA on it (and 2 junk mods). Barely used it and could not make myself part with it. And just yesterday i got Aristocrats + Hitman's one, and its very satisfying to use. Thank you for your video. I knew of some bits, but did not about potential usefulness (and fun) of a two-shot one.

Does the penta barrel only become the better option when you factor in the damage from the Tesla Coil Capacitor? cause I still use Prime as the ammo efficiency is great, and since I use the Prime receiver should I go for AA or TS (both with faster fire rate) as I don’t know if TS would be better with the weaker explosions

not much my verdict here was related to fire cost vs performance ratio not purely dps it will still win slightly vs plasma on bosses thanks to higher ammo capacity and accuracy

Gatling plasma is only slightly better but the bugs with it are atrocious still. I actually made the Gauss my main heavy and love it now. I rolled a ts ffr fr one too for ultimate mayhem.

Hey AT. I think the gauss mg, is a lot better than the plasma gat. The reload is faster, it’s far more accurate, it spins up faster, and I don’t loose the rest of my magazine if staggered. Also when fighting SBQ or Earl the explosive splash hits multiple wendigos or scorched. The Gauss definitely has more advantages than looking cool or because it shoots blue rounds. I think it’s very efficient for non legacy heavy gunners. I run a ultrasite two shot gmg with the tri barrel. I find the perks heavy gunner, grenadier, tenderizer, demolition expert, stabilized, and one gun army help a lot. I also use formula p. I enjoy your videos. Thank you.

Powerful weapon,BUT the ammo for that gun is ABSURD expensive! Gatling Laser/Plasma is better alternative

Powerfull compared to what? I mean i can do more damage with a Compound bow. Up to 1200 on SBQ per Arrow. And its easy to stay hidden. A good buff for the Gauss Gatling would be a Silencer.

Wow that ammo is actually really cheap, even cheaper than 5mm
