Great video, very helpful! I have a question, instead of doing the back substitution, couldn't we also reduce the martix to the Identity Matrix (reduced row echelon form) and solve all the variables like that? Is that a better way to solve? Thanks!

I was gonna say the same thing. However, having introduced fractions into the matrix, the arithmetic may get a little messy if you continued with G-J elimination.

Surely getting the the 0s in the bottom corner is enough to find x,y and z, why spend time taking the extra steps of making the diagonal of 1s and complicating by having to use fractions? Can see that 9z=9 so z=1 just back substitute at that point? Would save valuable time and effort in exam conditions anyway

Henry, on one of the steps I had to multiply both the 2nd and 3rd rows in such a way that when I added them them one of the elements would be eliminated....I hope that helps...if not...comment back with the time stamp where there is confusion...
