Two of my best KZbinrs - Bam! It's great hearing how all this begin and where it's going. I wish both of you all the luck. For Gavin - go back to using the cheap presses to demonstrate consistency, low SD and ES. Because, I would argue, most of your viewer love to see the new Gucci stuff on your channel but, resolve to the much cheaper presses that they have. My two cents.

It's watching videos like this that ALWAYS gives me hope. There is literally no perfect and it's gentlemen like these guys that gives me that drive to listen, watch and learn. I absolutely love the passion of reloading and shooting, but these cats are on such a different level I am in awe of their nerdiness (yeah I just made up that word)

Gavin, A recommendation on your three wire method would be to get a changeable anvil screw thread micrometer(which measures pitch diameter). Three wire method is really only necessary on very tight pitch diameter tolerances like thread plug gauges. You can also document the approximate thread depth from the major diameter with given nose radii on the threading tool and the thread pitch(this works best with ground threading inserts).

Eric, A lot of gauge pins are center-less ground, which if not done correctly will produce out of round shapes. Internal material stresses can also change during the grinding process making the pins not straight.

Erik's comments about recognizing barrels that don't shoot hits hard. I'm 1.600 rounds into trying to get a custom Bartlein .308 barrel to shoot. I had 1 miracle group during load development that kept me chasing but I should've pulled this barrel off right away and sent it back. This would've saved me a ton of time, money, and I've doubt of my ability lol

Gavin mentions the tech/gear overload at a PRS match - When you're carrying >$20k on your back and your personal support trailer has what you couldn't carry - HOLY COW - being competitive feels like a pipe dream if you're just getting into the sport and it's easy to assume that if you keep showing up you might as well make a name tag that read "Hi my name is ___ , I'm a masochist." A strong club and community is everything to help get through that overwhelming feeling.

I quote that stuck in my head from the ATF agent that did my FFL interview..."We are here to keep you in business so don't hesitate to call us with any questions." He then proceeded to give me his cell number saying that this was the best way to get a hold of him.
