@@mattmarkus4868 it's called a sound check.... the sound engineer will be checking the mic feeds, gating and limiting while compressing each mic channel then building up an overall level and blend for the full kit. This is exactly what a sound check should be from the point of perfecting what the audience hear. Its easy to play a few grooves and have them sounding top notch but to set the desk and processing up for the entire kit the engineer needs to hear the full breadth of the kit sounds intertwined
@craigmcmeechan58995 жыл бұрын
@@mattmarkus4868 Matt Markus Matt Markus Matt Markus key statement from your reply "that isn't THAT cool".... clearly that your view in your subjective opinion. Maybe it's that some aspiring drummers haven't reached the upper echelons of your drumming career and are actually impressed seeing how true professionals (and I gather by your reply I can include you as an accomplished drummer) carry out a sound check. Again taking the soundcheck aspect aside where you see screwing around i could be seejng it as a perfect example of a warm up switching between different rudiments/sticking/stroking. Perfect example of switching resolutions while moving throughout the kit creating limb independence.... While not worship material there as certainly things to gain from watching such an accomplished drummer carry out what you see as a menial screw around for aspiring drummers I suppose the benefit of being adults is we can agree to disagree on our opinions of the content of the video however one thing we are both in the same page about is he is also one of my favourite drummers.

Leave his brilliant musical relationship with “Porcupine Tree”, “The Pineapple Thief” and “King Crimson” to play with the remnants of “Rush”? That would truly be the musical equivalent of a “low rent move”. Based on this posit you’ve clearly been spared the ravages of critical thinking and intelligence. Wake up! Harrison is one of the finest drummers on the planet and his performances (especially with “Porcupine Tree” and “The Pineapple Thief”) are light years beyond anything Neil Peart ever did.

@@HerbalistGuybrush That's not entirely truth, you can make almost any drum set sound good with decent heads, and if you know how to tune the drums. And vice versa - you can have the most expensive kit, and it will sound bad if you don't know how to tune it and use worn heads. It also depends of how you hit the drums.
