This is a masterclass example of a brilliant comic telling "gay jokes" that AREN'T homophobic! As a gay guy who endured cruel and hostile "jokes" growing up, it is incredible to see a straight guy who can actually touch this subject with skill and humor without a trace of hatred or bigotry..Bravo to Drew! This whole routine finally allows both straight and gay people to laugh together. Before seeing this, if a straight comic had asked me if it were ok to tell gay jokes, I would've been like..."hey, that's not cool man." It's treacherous ground. So imagine my surprise and elation to finally stumble across a comic on KZbin who not only can do it without being insulting, but do it in a way that made me laugh out loud. Greatly appreciated!

@tvfan1563 You can go back to a clip of him doing stand-up 3 years ago, and it would sound a lot more challenging than he's got going on here. Comedy is always memorization anyway. Not like they're reading teleprompters in the back of the room. I've been following this dude for years albeit I haven't been super attentive on it, but I do remember his stutter used to be REAL bad. Even if this somehow had the type of cheating you mention, he stuttered like twice in this clip, in over 12 minutes of talking. The big issue for the comics that whine that they aren't allowed to make jokes anymore is that they are ignorant and lacking creativity. It takes understanding of a community to make funny jokes about them and creativity to put yourself in someone else's shoes. So they end up doing neither and make really degrading and ignorant jokes then complain that people don't think they are funny. Pointing and laughing isn't a joke. Being a bigot isn't amusing. But they can't seem to put in the effort to actually create funny content so they just whine about being oppressed.

@@j2174 the LGBT community stands for all kinds of marginalized identities, whether it is gender identity or sexual identity (i.e. sexual orientation). There is no reason to think that including one will exclude or "erase" the other. They are supposed to be working together for the same goal; people who are trans often deal with the same kind of exclusion as people who are not straight, oftentimes worse. Some people are both trans and not straight. Thinking of the LGBT as a community centered only about someone's sexuality is pretty reductive, IMO. It's not just a category that looks at one aspect of a person to determine who qualifies; it has history, it has culture, it has common goal. Anyway, there is more talk about trans issues now. Before it was the "homosexuals". Maybe in a few years it will be some other marginalized identity. LGB people don't have it awesome (definitely not), but in many ways they are more widely accepted than trans people. That's why it may seem that trans people are all anyone talks about. But their inclusion in the LGBTQ community and movement doesn't overshadow other identities there by default. Trans rights don't mean less rights for gay people. That's just bullshit.

I did have to watch this bit without subtitles to realize that he didn't say "store me into a house" but "sort me into a house" -- a reference to Hogwarts that is hilarious as an analog to identifying gay bodily types. (Also, did Drew mean "soupçon" rather than "saffron"?) Not many straight comedians (and no homophobic ones) are so funny talking about the gay community; this guy nails it -- in part by acknowledging his own "3%." Speaking as a member of the bear/wolf (Hey man, don't judge, time changes everything) clan, let me tell you that military deployments, prisons, and a few six-packs change everything. Not the belly-type six-packs, although they help...

I don't do labels. I drink the fancy drinks with the umbrellas and the dainty straws watching the football and i'm not stopping. Drink the drinks, Drew. They're good. And they're for anyone who wants to buy them. There is nothing more attractive than a man secure enough in his sexuality to break all the sexual stereotypes.

I’m 99,9% gay! I’m pretty sure and have known this since I was 9 😂 the 0,1% is the hope my parents have that it’ll just be a faze that I’m going through 😂😂😂

This is so funny.. "The Just wait." Part was hysterical and I'm going to say it next time someone says I'm not gay.. just to get that reaction and laugh it up..LOL 😂😂

I love how you did not abstain from queer jokes, but they were all very respectful ❤ congrats

omg the bar height one got me. My kitchen counters come up almost to my chest, and at the grocery store I have to find someone to help me get something off of the higher shelves. So glad to hear someone else who gets it!

10:25 - the NOTE that he hits on the word 'fucking' sends me into a laugh-fit every time...like, the whole time leading up to it, it sounds like hes going along with it, like hes Agreeing to it...but when he gets to saying "...by FUCKING Otters?!" its like the facade of bullshit just Snaps, and that 'fridge logic' comes shining through...

Someone should probably tell him about giant otters. Those things are terrifying.

You should pin this to be the top post. Though I don't know how to do that. I have seen it done. It is possible. You're great man, my ADHD girlfriend introduced me to your work. You know why. Jimmy Carr pointed out that great stand up comedians are more rare than NBA players or basically any other profession. There's probably less than 40 that anyone follows in their lifetime. You're one of those.

This guy is freaking HILARIOUS! I've almost never been busting up so much from a standup comedian. Though to be fair it's... not a reasonable hour at all so my usual sense of humor may be off. But I think I still recognize the skill in crafting these jokes and their delivery

He was hilarious when he stuttered and he's hilarious not stuttering. You go, girl! (Well he is talking about being gay, after all...)

This was legit one of the most confident and insightful bits I've seen in a long time, knowing where Drews come from to get to delivering such good pacing, I couldn't pick up on a major stutter in a whole 12 minute section, woah.. this is really cleverly finding humour between the two "camps" seriously good observations

Umm. This is amazing!!! I have been watching you drew for awhile and 1. Idk how but you got funnier ( you were already funny) 2. I don't want to come of disrespectful , but he has lost is stutter (which I didn't know was a thing was fucking possible) You give everyone joy and inspiration. Keep it up.

This whole bit was brilliant 🤣 I can't pick a favourite, honestly. Fyi some otters can be terrifying, though, the giant river ones are apparently capable of taking out jaguars, so they're not to be underestimated either 😅
