Gayle, You made me so comfortable using a box for my cover! I'm making a journal for my grand-daughter that just left to go to collage all by herself clear down to Florida where she has no one. Thank You so much for sharing this with us! (That is so weird that Your hubby likes to cook and bake; because so does my hubby.) We were married 50 yrs. last Friday and it's never been been better! Here where I live in Springfield, Illinois we used to have a Kreeskeys and it had "toy town" at Christmas time, it was in the bottom of the store and the stair rails were decorated and everything just sparkled and twinkled and they sold ginger bread with lemon sauce and hot coco. Yum!!!!!

Hi Gayle - Thank you for taking us along as you create this whimsical Christmas journal. Love how you used the book cover on the front and the pages throughout. This is going to be such a fun journal for the boy that gets it. The washi tape you used for the pages looks so pretty and tie the little book together 📖❤️📖 throughout the journal. I so enjoyed watching you start out with the pages for each signature and then as you added other pages. Being new to this, it helps so much seeing how signatures are created. Can’t wait to see the next video. Going back and watch you create the cover. Enjoy your cookies🍪🍪🍪. Hugs! ❤️🎄❤️ Happy Week 🌼🐝🌼🌸🦋🌸😊

Gayle, I absolutely love your videos! I'm not 100% sure on this but maybe somebody else can chime in, but I think you can add a little bit of baking soda or baking powder to neutralize the acidity in the tea dyed paper. I believe I heard it from maybe Nik the Booksmith or Amity Bloom. I'm not sure really. I watch a ton of KZbin videos and forget where I saw what. 🤷🏻♀️ ❤

Hi Gayle as always you make me smile and thoroughly enjoyed the video. Was very surprised in regards to dyed pages , have started to make mine for a journal and wasnt aware of acidity issues. Have noted a couple of ladies making comments on what to do to get rid of acidity. Have you ever done anything in particular to get rid of acidity of papers, would like to hear your thoughts on the subject, is it the same for coffee dye ??.... Yes many of us were screaming 8.5 inches that's for sure lol. Big hug from the land of Oz. P.s cannot find part 1 of this series, . Bye for now

The reason the vintage papers turn brown is due to acid. You can soak papers in a solution made with milk of magnesia to remove the acid. There is also a product called archival most which can be sprayed on the pages.
