As for the flag, there are actual laws about the way you have to treat the American flag, I'm pretty sure the 'it can't touch the ground' is one. Also, you can't have a damaged flag flying. It's insane. And, there are many schools here where kids do in fact 'learn about god' they are Christian schools. And the reason the pledge was removed from public schools was because it had the line 'one nation under God' and there's supposed to be a separation of church and state.

It’s not just being patriotic. The ritual chanting to a flag, the need to put it anywhere and everywhere, etc… I really don’t care one way or another but I feel like it’s an odd thing that seems United States-specific and I kind of feel like it trivializes it somewhat if anything. If it makes you feel proud to wear American flag boxers; sweaty red, white and blue Tshirts; with a beer in your America coozie and fly Old Glory everywhere she can catch a breeze, you do you! (I’m not saying you in particular, but that’s more the level of “extreme” I’m referencing).

I'm another ace that found out in their 30s (+ aromantic & agender afterwards in rapid succession) No one taught me to be any of this, learning that it exists just gave me a way to understand myself, understand why there were so many confusing feelings and situations in my past. The moment I realised that I'm not just broken, but just another part of the human experience felt so freeing. I think especially the a-specs need more visibility, because it's so incredibly difficult to figure out that there is something you DON'T have. If you are gay, lesbian, bi, pan etc, you know that you are attracted to the same/opposite/non-binary genders, but how was I supposed to know that my aesthetic attraction is not the same as the sexual attraction my peers talked about? That I only know what "sexy" is, because I associated a certain look with it from others talking about it? I hope future generations have it easier with figuring out who they are. It feels so much better to know that there isn't anything wrong with you, just because you are a little bit different.

Right? My entire life I thought something was wrong with me. Why did I hate my own body so much? Why couldn't I relate more to my girl classmates? Why did I not like the thought of "being the girl" in a relationship? Why did everyone seem to be much more s*xually and romantically attracted to others? Turns out I was trans and demisexual (and ADHD). For a while I thought I was asexual, but I knew that also didn't fit how I felt. I've always been trans. I've always been demi and pan. The book he’s talking about is just a general sex education box for lgbtq young people. It’s “this book is gay” by Juno Dawson…. So in school they have health and sexual education and it explains what’s sexual touch is, consent, how people end up with a pregnancy, how people get STDs, how that can affect for you LIFE, etc. and for decades, anything outside of teen pregnancy wasn’t really discussed, so now there are resources geared to lgbtq youth since they were excluded. There were young gay men for example who assumed since they could not get pregnant, there was no need to use protection or safety measures in sexual experimentation since they were excluded from the texts. Texts literally just said you had to use protect so the female partner could not get pregnant or get an std. that and they promoted abstinence.

If I were to (hypothetically) try and convince a straight child that he’s gay, I’m sure he’d know enough about himself to not be convinced. Kids know themselves and have self-awareness. Treat them that way. Edit: We also need to mention how this entire argument is literally just an excuse to not believe or listen to queer children and strip them of any autonomy they have.

There was a Supreme Court ruling back in the 2000's that determined public schools could not force nor penalize a student for not saying or standing for the pledge. Of course, like many things, lots of schools try to skirt around this *Federal law* (usually hoping people will be unaware of it and that it falls under first amendment protection). I however, felt it my patriotic duty to inform as many students in as many districts as possible as soon as it happened including the portion regarding penalties to schools who violated the ruling *immediately* after it occurred. I even made convenient print-outs. --- Two different states *loathed* me for it. (The feeling was mutual) Though they were rather powerless as when *my* school called in the parental unit "to talk" they were literally laughed at and reminded of my spotless record, honor student status, and that my test scores raised their average (and funding by proxy).

As a mother of teenagers in the UK, I was sent the LGBTQ+ and sex education syllabus from both the primary and secondary schools. All it teaches is that love comes in many forms. It teaches about the difference between sex and gender identity. In younger aged children, they only teach about relationship and what is a safe and healthy relationship. It definitely doesn't teach children or even teenagers about blow jobs or any oral sex. Yes, it teaches them how babies are conceived, safe sex, and STI and STDs. But that's it. My boys have always known that love comes in different forms. When I was on Hoilday me and hubby got talking to an American family who were disgusted about LGBTQ+ education in schools especially transgender kids. They truly believed that our kids were being forced to be gay and that these transgender children were having surgeries and being given hormones like sweets in the UK. It took a lot of convincing that that was a load of crap and that it takes years of specialist help to even get the hormones nevermind surgery and you have to be over 18 for it. As for the LGBTQ+ education they believed we were teaching our kids how gay/lesbian couples have sex and alsorts. I was shocked at their beliefs. Hopefully I was able to help them see the benefits of LGBTQ+ education in schools and how it is a positive.

I was literally raised like that and was a horribly homophoic and transphobic person and kind of a bully until late highschool because of it. What ALSO happened is I found out I was queer in highschool and because I wasn't educated about it being okay and not a choice I pretty much lived my life being full of fear due to my conservative family and what their teachings possibly meant for me if I was outted. Just teach kids about this stuff and that its okay and it will lead to more open and accepting kids period. What's the problem?????

More people are identifying as part of the LGBTQ+ than ever before? Hmm gee I wonder why that is.... Couldn't be because we have more exposure, more connection with the internet, and more safety to be ourselves. This man talking about how he's so influenceable- no one influenced me to be pan (they incentivized me not to be!) and no one influenced me to be trans (again, they definitely tried to incentivize me NOT to be). Every time I see people like this talking about how we the LGBTQ+ trick people into being 'confused' about themselves.... they can only talk about things that they themselves do. There's just this constant projection from people too scared and complacent to think for themselves.

Bringing up children is no longer a topic of lgbtq+ it’s a topic for pdf files. It’s so gross when heteros bring up children. No one wants to imagine children doing sexual acts except for pdf files. The only time kids should be brought up is during the topic of sex education. It’s important for kids to learn about it so they can recognize when they’re being abused at home and they can understand how diseases spread and how women/girls get pregnant. It also wouldn’t hurt to include sexual orientations and identities during sex education so children will be less ignorant adults.

Ramble, ramble. I'm a dyslexic, left-handed, trans, bisexual. No one told me that any of that was okay. They tried to make me right-handed but gave up. Technically I'm ambidextrous, but that made me choose one. I was very annoyed. I chose left to spite them. I didn't accept my bisexuality until I was 18. It took me until my 40s to accept that I'm trans. I never knew a transperson personally and I only had one gay (that I knew of) until I was 18. It would've been nice to know why I was pining over my female friends. It would also have been nice to know I was trans ,not just a "Tomboy ". Going through puberty was awful. Why do I have to grow boob's? If I had access to transgender care (not there was any), I wouldn't have hated myself and body so much.

I don't even know who this guy is....and he has employees? Who is he? As a GenX, I do believe his "stats" on older generations are incorrect. Older generations are still not open about sexuality. It was SUCH a taboo subject, hetero and homo. Doesn't matter. At least where I'm from. And where are his "stats" from? I have so many questions.

Omg I remember singing hymns in school at assembly and it was so awkward. I was one of the rebels that wouldn't sing and just stand there, because I quite simply didn't want to. We also used to pray (or at least assume the prayer position) and I would be sat the whole time wondering what was I meant to be thinking or doing. Also I learned nothing about the LGBTQ community and the history of it, so trying to come to terms with being queer and trans was so difficult, as I didn't know anyone who was LGBTQ. Yay for being a 90s kid and where the majority of my school life being under Section 28.

Richard “Iceman” Kuklinski was a hitman/serial killer active in the ‘80’s who got the nickname by trying to obscure time of death of one of his victims by freezing the body. He did his work by compartmentalising his personality and by all accounts he also was a loving and doting father and husband. So Yeah, he was cold when needed, sure, but was complicated like most humans. He gave A LOT of interviews from prison before he died in 2006. I know too much about too many serial killers and their psychological profiles…it’s been a special interest since I was a small child.

at 14 my sister joked with me for a day that I was her brother, and in that moment I decided I would grow up to be a man. I didn't know what a drag queen was. I didn't know about being trans. I devised a whole plan about running away and starting a secret life before I found an online blog about a 40yo trans woman a year later desperately googling why I felt the way I did a year later. I immediately came out to my friend and spent the next year reading fellow trans peoples stories. I publicly came out and wasn't accepted. If i gave a singular fuck what people though, I would have de transitioned. I'd rather be myself and alone than be someone else and accepted. I have bright acid piss green hair with hot pink sideburns. If I cared what people think I'd have buzzed natural coloured hair. I have a ton of piercings and tattoos. Not once have I thought to take them out because I get hate for it. I am gen z. I am 25. I have been "correctively" r*ped, still asexual, I've been bullied my whole life for literally everything, I am still me, and I will never let anyone else take that from me. I am fucking amazing.

What's funny about the argument of "influence" is that I grew up with a conservative father but a queer sibling 16 years my senior who I'd go spend weekends with often as I got older so very much also grew up in the LGBTQ+ community and thought I was cishet for 30+ years. Turns out I'm non binary and pan. I agree saying the pledge of allegiance is weird and culty, I've always felt that way. Also, for any young Americans reading this, you're not required to say the pledge, you don't even have to stand. They can't force you to do it and you are legally allowed to not participate. If a teacher tries to force you, take it to the top.

Yeah your right , pledging to the the US flag is kinda weird . I’ve figured it was so we can be reminded what happened so long ago and why we’re free or something. And you’re right roly not every school should be about prayer , I went to a Christian school for a while and they taught Bible study here and there , we had chapel on Friday but it was only for a short period of time during the day. At my school they didn’t shove it down our throats , it was more like this is who god is and memorize this verse . We had regular lessons like any other school. Having any religion in school is only a problem when your shoving it down someone’s throat.

10:01 I find this notion hilarious, mostly because I was a Christian until I was 13. I went to every church event and I slowly realized, I Hated Bible study and Sunday school. By the time I was 9 I knew I liked girls, but because my mom taught me right I didn't know it was "wrong". I didn't even know what the word "gay" was until I was 14, because I looked my feelings up myself. ❤Thank you rolly, keep encouraging people to be themselves ❤

@@elaexplorer But if you think about how he explains it, it sounds like you can be influenced any which way. So if gay people are influenced to be gay then straight people are also influenced but in reality that makes some of them them gay. It's just what he is saying that he thinks you can be influenced to be anything. I know the guy didn't make sense in much if this, so shouldn't try to understand it but clearly it shows that's how weak his arguments are.

I lived in Colorado when the Christian Taliban got the state constitution amended to make gays, lesbians, and bisexuals second-class citizens. The Supreme Court struck it down in 1996. The current Supreme Court? Yeah they would've upheld it. All of those trans-bans racing through the US? They look _awfully familiar_ to this old Uncle-Gay🏳🌈. So his argument, whatever the f that was in the first place, falls short. This gotta be some form of projection.... I love you guys! I only figured out that I'm aroace & agender a few years ago in my early thirties, because I learned about those identities and vibed with them. And as soon as I realised that I am those things, so much of my past suddenly made sense. Weird interactions I had with allos that confused me and my (subconscious) disconnection with my gender. I've been aroace & agender all my life, but only when learning that they are even a thing made it possible to give myself those labels. Finding out that I'm not just some oddly broken person, but a nuance of the human experience was incredibly freeing and there was a huge weight falling off my shoulders I didn't even know I was carrying around. If I hadn't stumbled into the lgbtq+ community (mostly through memes with One Topic, then Jamie & Shaaba and then Roly and last but not least Luxeria) I would still be a lot more miserable and confused than I already am.
