The big outstanding quality of this show is its authentic... everything. The actors look like teens. With imperfections and different bodies. Yet, they are all really good in their art, Edvin the most. Some scenes are complete impro in this show and they are mindblowing good. Then again, it has this really different vibe as Love Victor or Heartstopper, though often compared to it. Its just much more dark and disheartening. It'll take you on a ride for sure.

That show was so pioneer, the format (releasing clips at real time completed with instagram stories of the caracters as if they were real people) it was such an experience to live. I was one of the people who suggested you watch this and I am so happy to see you are!! It is my absolute favorite show ever. I’ve watched it more times than I can count. But there will never be anything like the first time I watched it. And so now I watch reactions because every one who watches it loves it. One thing I will tell you that I love about the show is that the characters are all very complex. They all do things that are good and things that are bad. Just like in real life.

Just in case you wanted to know🙂: Sweden does have a monarchy still but it is entirely ceremonial, in 1974 all executive powers were removed by their Parliament. And in regards to real-life Swedish royals being queer, a statement was put out by marshall of the realm, Fredrik Wersäll, confirming that the Swedish government would not treat the same-sex marriage of a Swedish prince or princess any differently to any other marriage and it would not prohibit a monarch or an heir to the throne from retaining their right to rule.

I’m so glad you guys started this one, I thought we would have to wait until after Love Victor. You mentioned how there wasn’t much explicit gay content until the end but I think that’s part of what is so authentic about this series. The characters are more fully fleshed out and their sexuality is only a part of their identity. The romance is the main plot but they also each have other problems unrelated to their sexuality.

Your in for a rollercoaster but it’s worth every second!! I’m very excited to hear your commentary and discussions as the season goes on. There is A LOT to unpack about multiple themes and character complexities. The show is honestly a cinematic masterpiece, they do everything right, from the camera shots/composition to the direction, acting, editing, wardrobe, soundtrack etc. you can watch it multiple times and still pick up on little Easter eggs and nuances you missed before. It’s the gift that keeps on giving.

So excited about this new journey! I watched Young Royals last week to overcome my Heartstopper obsession and you know what? It worked (I mean, I still love it deeply, but now I'm able to watch other shows again 😂). It is a great series - bittersweet and beautiful - and I can see why people compare it to Heartstopper. Simon and Willhelm are so cute and I like the way they interact with each other. They honestly surprised me so many times and I can't wait for season 2 💗

Omg loved your reactions & commentary! Esp at the end😂well I was transfixed too watching the end of this episode. The chemistry of these 2 actors really draws you in. In an interview they said they found that they had this amazing chemistry from their first meeting at a casting call for the show and became best friends from that day 🥰 Omar Rudberg (Simon) was 22 when he did the show (his first acting role but he's a dancer/singer in Sweden. He speaks 3 languages, English/Swedish/Spanish!) and Edvin Ryding (Wilhelm) was only 18 but he can stare into your soul with those eyes! And He's been an actor since he was 5 ! Ahhh these guys are so talented and i cant get enough of their other work now also.. I've watched almost all their interviews too lol I'm obsessed with the show but it is so short a season!!! i hope we don't have to wait too long for s2... Looking fwd to the rest of your entertaining reactions Thank you 💜

Edvin was 17 when filming YR he turned 18 in February 2021, the scar that you will see when the bruising goes away it's real, he hurt himself when he was playing tag falling hitting the pointing edge of a desk/table when he was 7 years old, YR for me it's a great story like a true story that happens in real life, I enjoyed it so much and I hope you do too, looking forward to see your reactions. I just found your channel today through your Skam videos and I love it! I subscribed right away :D I'm Danish and can understand most of the Swedish in this show, and the scene with Simon and his dad I read differently from the wording and inflection of how he says he's gay. And that is that Simon has already come out before to his parents but as we learn with this show, the dad is struggling and needed to be reminded.
