Thanks Stephen for your review of Normans book. I am a fan of Norman Finkelstein I appreciate his work and dedication to the Palestine/israel situation, he is a master second to none. I have bought the book just received it last week. I have an insatiable quest for learning as much as I can about the Palestinian people and their land.

I recall Finkelstein said the book was not intended for casual readers but instead for future historians so that the history of Gaza is not lost to time. He said, he didn't even believe that anyone would buy the book and that he only hope that someday in the future a historian would stumble upon his book collecting dust in a library somewhere.

I never knew how it felt to lose someone by physical trauma, say a missile strike. I still don't. But I once saw a cute kitten which puffed up in front of me. It scurried away moments later. I thought to myself how cute. I got in my car and started to reverse. Probably due to fear of my car moving, the kitten bolted from under a nearby car and crossed the road. A passing car hit it. In my side view mirror I saw a kitten flopping around on the road. Muscle spasm just before death? Its head was badly injured. The flopping slowed. I couldn't get it out of my mind how a cute kitten from minute sago was now roadkill. Now that gave me a small glimpse into the life of a Gazan who lost loved ones by IDF bombing. One minute they're hugging, the next minute it's all over.

You are doing a good job with this serious of reviews on Palestine. The contents of Finkelstein's book remind me of the Old Testament with YHWH trampling knee deep in the blood and gore of his enemies. Truly horrendous. God knows what effect assembling these horrors in one volume had on Finkelstein, the man has some backbone!

And interestingly he said he had “given up”/stopped writing on the issue until Oct 7. He sees the same big change that many others have. Social media has powered awareness that previously did not exist.
