I went with z Terrakion because I feel I can use Terrakion without scarf or band much easier and still set up with it using z crystals and swords dance/rp/sub, whereas victini typically doesn't function that way, it's best banded or scarfed (imo anyway) and vcreate firium z doesn't get boosted that much higher, not positive but id guess banded does more.

Lemme set some records straight here. I will never draft Gengar, it is one of my least favorite Pokes. I'd consider Mismagius though. Mienshao maybe, but I was already too 5th Gen heavy. Also screw HJK, I was on Blah's staff for Season 5 and Mienshao was constantly a letdown. If I may go on record, I have never understood the hype around Fire/Water/Grass cores and why people talk about completing them so much. Same goes for Dragon/Fairy/Steel, which I view as "Fairy and Steel, then find something to take Fire hits". For me it's about specific type pairings of Pokes with bulk, reliable recovery, and sometimes offensive options. Hence Manaphy-Zapdos-Hippo with Reuniclus thrown in as the glue. Perhaps that's good because I don't end up to stack mindsets with other coaches and get sniped more easily. Breloom, in addition to being something I've always wanted to use, provided a nice Grass+Rock resist. Darmani-tan likewise for Ice+Grass. Both those pairings (albeit not the most common) hit my primary triangle SE, so having offensive switches into that coverage was a big reason for picking those two offensive options. _(There's still BoltBeam that hits the triangle, but BoltBeam has precious few things that resist both, and IIRC not a single one gets reliable recovery thus they get worn down. Plus, they are often run unSTAB, and so Reuniclus gets to take on that pairing.)_ Comfey's spot was reserved for a Cleric. Blissey was my 9th Round pick, but it got sniped so I went ahead with Cloyster and deferred Cleric until 2nd to last. Like you said, Dos and Hippo hate Toxic. Of the Clerics left in Round 10, it was the one with most potential upside and in Round 10 I'm willing to go out on a limb. Other considerations were Wigglytuff (SR access, Ghost immune, but statwise shaky) and Gardevoir (probably the strongest contender, but tried and true while I was interested in trying something new) both of which I _could_ see instead if this were a later season where we knew more about Comfey in leagues. My speed tiers are like the worst ever. Good thing half my team gets some form of priority, four of them STAB. I hate Dragons. My least favorite type overall, just behind Fire. "Take a setup sweeper over Scrafty" > Scrafty learns DD, Bulk Up, and Amnesia...and has built-in Lum Berry kind of. Haxorus is not a bulky Dark. Would rather not have Swellow be my only Ghost resist. Flygon puts me at 5 Ice weaknesses which I'm leery of, though its Defog capacity does put it up there for me. (It's also my favorite Dragon) k that pretty much covers it. Since my draft video was brief I figured I'd hit on a few points that weren't obvious.

They keep complaining that all the team's draft are too slow, they said "no mons above 115 speed tier." Like how many viable mons have higher than 115 speed, especially without megas lol
@alolanjose4798 жыл бұрын
Did you not hear them say "Speed tiers and not having fast paced mons is very difficult without megas this season" like 5 times?? lol if only people listened
@Shuckleking878 жыл бұрын
Exactly, this is a new season and a new draft style where really speedy mons are not at the disposal like mega lopunny or mega alakazam. The somewhat viable 115+ pokes consist of aerodactyl, accelgor, jolteon, crobat, talonflame, swellow, weavile, tornadus-t, dugtrio, hawlucha, whimsicott (in a free draft the viability of some of these are questionable at best). It's one thing to have a variety of speed tiers, but its another thing to have speed tiers with subpar pokemon that really dont provide you with much flexibility and takes away a roster spot just to have a talonflame or an accelgor (not saying they are bad, but its a free draft). Plus you can always scarf a pokemon to fix a speed tier, and none of these pokes (usually) are that good with scarf except jolteon (and that is a stretch because of how strong it is without modest or life orb/magnet/specs)

My Team Grade/Rankings: Tom: C+ ; I like the Bulk, but the Offense is Sub-Par. I see him finishing somewhere in the middle. Lars: B ; Very well rounded squad, his speed is lacking so he might miss out on some power by relying on Scarf users. Possible playoff team. Steve: D+ ; Xurkitree isn't a good Z user, the synergy is non existent, but the team has potential under Trick Room. Probably dead last finish but Steve might surprise us who knows. Geo: A- ; Scary good cores, great speed, great hazard removal and good hazard setters. He might want to pick up a ground type in free agency but his team is very solid, Playoff team for sure! Tup: B+ ; The Volt-Turn and Regenerator core is very good, the speed tiers are wonky but if Tup can use them properly he will find success. Possible Playoff team. John: A++; His team fits the format so well, this team can go either hyper offensive or super bulky. Goodra and Skarmory are two of the best answers to Bulu which means Bulu will run rampant. Playoff team, Possible finalist Mono: B ; This team has some really good synergy, but I feel like his lack of hazard removal will be his downfall some weeks. Might just miss the playoffs. Dan: A- ; He drafted Leo's UCL core, which won the UCL, so its a proven core. Dan loves bulky offense and his team is super bulky, but his lack of true speed might hurt him. Dan will make playoffs Chimp: B+ ; His Offensive pressure is insane, Alomomola is going to be relied on heavily for true bulk and wish passing because other than that his team is slightly frail. Playoff contender Emvee: C+ ; Its an Emvee team, half of his team is extremely weak to Bolt Beam, and the other half is weak to Edge Quake, and his team is powerful but his typings are very repetitive, might just miss the playoffs or barely squeak in Koop: B- ; This team could be really good, Koop knows Zapdos but its going to be stuck to the Defog set most weeks. I think he might bring the same 4-5 mins each week and then plug and play the other 1 or 2. Maybe a playoff team. George: A ; His team synergy is amazing, Mew is going to be a great Z user, he has a a solid Speed tier and his cores are solid. Playoff team definitely a semi finalist caliber team Gator: C+ ; I feel like Gator drafted mons he is comfortable with, but he is going to have to be creative and not get stuck running standard sets. Middle of the road team because of his lack of experience in league format. Callum: B+ ; This draft was solid, T-Tar, Drill, and Wash is an amazing core to build around, his FWG core is solid, and Espeon is very underrated in league format, Depending on his team building he could make playoffs. Duncan: B- ; Rocks are going to hurt him, and I think his last three picks were kinda confusing, he should have just picked one weather and went with it, but his heavy hitter are all scary to deal with. I think he will finish toward the middle of the pack. Crimson: C- ; Solid ORAS UU team, his team has some sleepers that can be dangerous, his typings are amazing and only has 2 mons with a 4x weakness but I doubt he will bring Oricorio-Fire. I don't know how this will work in league format so I think he might finish towards the back of the pack, but I haven't seen Crimson battle in a while so who knows how well he will use this team.

@JasmineRGBLights8 жыл бұрын
Great video! Some sharp analysis, don't agree with all of it but some solid reasoning. Have put my own ratings below, haven't really played enough Gen 7 but I figure I can look back on this and laugh at the end of the season. Sharpedos: Yeah this is going to be a relatively predictable squad, and even given that it only questionably fills all the roles it needs to. Celesteela is so pivotal to taking on powerful rock/ground/fighting types for this team that it forces Tom into certain archetypes. C- Donphans: My lord. So many offensive threats here. Torn, Craw, Mag and Luke give a HUGE variety of set up options, and you've got a few different rock setters that can fill different roles. Not sure that this roster will fire *every* game, but the other coaches are going to be having fits each week trying to prep for all these threats. A Sawsbucks: ...oh boy. Yeah, got to mostly side with the analysts here, this is pretty dire. 3 Dark weaknesses on probably the 3 best utility mons on the team in Starmie, Cress and Cofag is a HUGE problem given the dark switchins are frail or lack recovery. No fire type makes opposing Grass and Bug types a big problem, and there's a lot of pressure on Starmie to help wall, spin away hazards and be the offensive water/ice coverage this team sorely needs. D GiEnteis: This is an incredible squad. The main thing here is I can see every mon being used at least a couple of times without it being entirely a gimmick, which is a great start. Fantastic support mons, most of which crucially *can* be offensive to catch opponents off guard. Plenty of hazard setters with viable alternate sets, and great type synergy as pointed out in the video. A+ Pirattatas: Regenerator wall core plus the offensive core of The King, Koko, Scizor and Hydreigon mean I can't give this anything too low. However, it is pretty slow overall, without really being a viable TR squad. The hazard setting and hazard removal options aren't great, and the fire/fighting weakness places a lot of pressure on Slowbro and to a lesser extent Chandelure. B- Pelippers: GOTTA GO FAST. This team is pretty strong, but I'm not as sold on it as Jarrett was. The reliance on Skarm is so obvious that it makes the rest of the team relatively easy to predict depending on what your squad is. I somewhat struggle to see how these mons get past physical dragons without bringing Banded Sneasel every week given Bulu's back of Fairy STAB, and BoltBeam coverage WRECKS this squad given it hits every bulky mon for SE bar the questionably useful Uxie. B+ Luxrays: This does not seem that strong to me. Very little special offensive presence, and while the physical offense is intimidating it will struggle somewhat with Bulky waters who can almost always hit Roserade on the switch in with Ice Beam. Defensively, being reliant on Mantine and Miltank is incredibly restrictive on teambuilding, either meaning you go full defensive core with Florges and Jirachi or you have momentum suckers on your offensive squad if you try to build around Bisharp, Buzz and Zygarde. C+ Rampardos: Haxorus ties this squad together SO well. Reliant on Dhelmise for removal but I'm less worried about that than with some other squads given it's relatively strong offensive presence, the fact it can spin block and it's good defensive stats making it a solid mon to *have* to pick every week. I think Dan's going to end up running Special Victini a lot given the rest of the squad being largely physical attackers, which is not a *bad* thing but possibly makes the pick less valuable than it otherwise would have been. Can run anything from a very fat squad to HO with 2 scarfers, so that's some good versatility Offensive synergy is really good, the squad overall is a bit slow so I can't give it any higher but I think Dan is once again going to be a threat. B+ Scizors: This is a powerful, well-rounded squad. I think some weeks that'll be enough, but I think the set-up options are predictable enough in Thundurus and Azu that Chimp might struggle to pick up those big wins or sweep through the opposition. That said, it's very well set up to counter opposing sweeps with a trapper, strong priority, Prankster TWave and Ditto all making it easier for the raw power of KyuB and Volcanion to shine through. The ability to fill holes offensively or defensively with Silvally is also super helpful. Likely to be the most consistently competitive squad in the competition. A- Chimchargers: I don't think this is anywhere near as bad as Jarrett makes it out to be. Pelipper with UTurn means way better momentum than Politoed for Rain, Kingdra and Omastar each hit some of the counters to Water Spam with Virizion and Mag to support and Lando/Drag/Zam is a fantastic core of hard hitting mons with a variety of coverage moves to hit whatever the rain core can't deal with that week, as well as giving extra set up options. Empoleon is a bit of a weak point, and that BoltBeam weakness is horrendous, but this is a solid if somewhat inflexible squad. C+ Jasmine: I don't rate this team all that much. It's not that strong, it's not *that* bulky and it's not that fast. There are plenty of set up options, but none are the easiest to pull off. The definition of inflexible, with Klefki, Zapdos, Reuniclus and Hippo forcing a defensive build each week, bc Darm/Loom/Swellow is not an offensive core. I love some of these mons like Reun and Manaphy, but just not a fan of this overall. C Arcaniners: Yeah super solid squad. Mons like Volc, Suicune, Exploud and even Mienshao ALWAYS have to be prepped for, and yet none are really essential to this team's success. Decent hazards, great removal and a nice balance of physical and special attackers. Probably a little on the frail side, especially to the EdgeQuake combo mentioned by the analysts of even the omnipresent BoltBeam, but this is a pretty great squad. Possibly more offensive versatility, particularly in set up, than the Scizors, but slightly less insurance to deal with potential sweeps. A- Gatrs: Very reliant on mediocre mons in Pyukumuku and Komala, the former as his only way of dealing with the ubiquitous Water/Ice combo defensively and the latter as hazard removal. Mamoswine, Diggersby and Heracross will tear through some teams, but there is nothing here defensively and not quite enough special offense to give this squad the balance it needs. C- Athletics: This is I think the best example of a concept a lot of teams seem to have struggled with this year: type redundancy. Particularly offensively, pairing two dragons, or two birds, or two waters is one of the best ways of breaking through a team that will always be restricted to one or two answers to those things. This team has literally 0 type crossover on any two mons. That said this team covers every base, if not amazingly well, Rotom/TTar/Drill is a monstrous core for most weeks and there's some danger hiding in those last few picks that coaches will have to be wary of with Snorlax, Sable and Espeon. I do question the set up options though, and the speed tiers. B Torracats: Offensive monsters, plenty of set up, good speed tiers and some gimmicks that don't need to be relied on but will force opposing coaches to prep for. A reliance on Mandibuzz but between its ability, stats and access to recovery it's deceptively hard to take down despite its weakness to rocks, so I'm ok with that. Marowak seems so good just because defensive fire types are so rare, and Keldeo/MGross/Weavile is a scary combo to prep for. B Steel Wings: The mediocre hazard removal really kills this for me, which is unfortunate because I actually rate the offensive core pretty highly. But rocks will limit Torn's ability to reliably pivot, severely limit Entei and Kyurem's switchins and limit the number of times slow checks like Sylveon, Slowking and Krook can reliably come in on the things they are there to threaten out. Add in some very poor hazard setting and this roster will struggle to consistently pick up wins. C So that's that. I've listed my spread of marks below, only because I had it here while writing this to make sure I kept to a relatively reasonable bell curve around an average of roughly B- A+ A A- A- B+ B+ B B B- C+ C+ C C C- C- D

I get that this video is opinion based and I'm generally thankful that there are analysts that break down everything for the viewers. Although you made loads of good points and explained every critic relatively in detail, I believe that you sometimes were ridicolusly wrong. Some synergies are pretty solid, some hugely underrated mons you called unnecessery, some overall drafts that are absolutely dangerous you stated as weak. To the aspect of speed tiers, I think it's straight up bullshit that you need several 115 or even faster mons, there are certain ways to counter speed or to adapt to opposing speed. I could go on and on, but generally very solid video :)

@dicksonmattxenoblade64918 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I kinda need to say a few things about Emvee's rain team, if you're seeing this, try not to get too mad. This is my opinion as someone who loves running rain teams himself. I don't think it's the worst thing in the world, though there are a few things that kinda bug me. The big thing is that he seems to have a few too many water types. Don't get me wrong, water types are really good in rain, but there is such as thing as too many -insert obvious IGN meme here-. I will say that I feel that as an electric type, I would have gone with Heliolisk or Thunderus I as they both take full advantage of rain. Having a fast electric type is really good in a rain team and probably a much better option than Magnezone. Yes I get that it's fire weakness is covered but you're running a rain team with 4 water types, fire types are not an issue. Also for the dragon type, I'd say Goodra would be better in this case as it can be a really good special wall, yeah he has Alolan Muk and Dragonite but having a less electric weak Pokemon like Goodra do the tanking is a better decision. Especially when you have access to reliable recovery in the rain with Rest Hydration Goodra. I would also recommend Beartic but I might be going a bit far there. I'd still say it's a bit better than Omastar in this case though. Not that it's bad or anything, just suggesting a little more variety with his mons. Right then I've said my piece fellow commenters, please be nice.

I dont know what you guys are talking about Geo not having a good amount of wall breakers? He's got Salamence, Gengar, Conkeldurr and depending on how its built Arcanine.

those fast electric types against are gonna do a ton to magnezone
@joost32108 жыл бұрын
Colton Greiss Magnezone doesn't stop volt switch, has no recovery, isn't that bulky and doesn't do shit back to the electric types
@PS-th9jc8 жыл бұрын
ChampionJoost On top of that its x4 weak to ground, just slap HP Ground on your fast Electric Type and Magnezone is not gonna last too long.

I think lando-t is def a round 1 pick. It is so powerful and versatile (but would have been better if he chose it as it's zcrystal)

Also, how does Magnezone not make sense on Emvee's team? Literally a minute later you say fast electric's w/ HP ice shiet on Emvee's team, and Magnezone infamously resists both.

After really looking at it... callums team is hella scary if he does it right that's an Playoff team with an A rating
@andrejohnson102098 жыл бұрын
To jump into the convo, I highly disagree with the koko criticism. If they have a fat ground, run u-turn into a wall breaker. I really think koko can be the mvp of this league
@andrejohnson102098 жыл бұрын
Also on emvee, I don't really see how a fast electric type stops a full health kingdra under rain. I will say he can use a more defensive ground type. But I respect you guys putting yourselves out there. GBA hype!

Why are they complaining about Lars's lack of wish support while he has two healing wishers? Lol. And wtf how is Lando-T not a round 1 pick? Other than those mindfucks I really enjoyed this commentary. Good job!

Lando T isn't close to as good in draft as it is in standard play.

Can you guys not see that Geo can't stop volt switch? And also can you not see the lack of special attackers in dans team as well as his ghost weakness.

Jarrett says go first and then just says what he wants to, like 8 different times. You can count on 1 hand how many times wish passing has worked in the GBA, it's not been very successful.
