I started watching loopstation battles because of Rythmind back in 2019. So I'm a big fan of his. But when I was watching the battle for the first time, BreZ was flawless, and his sound was clean af. As much as I love Rythmind, I had to give it to BreZ and I thought the judges would agree, but I was shocked at the result! I wish I could of seen more of you in that competition, because that was a strong performance

Yea, I felt you won that. Everything meshed together so well. So smooth, yet hype, and you kept the same vibe throughout. Rythmind is super talented, but the beats were all over the place, especially at the end of the Thunderstruck song (that beat seemed like a mistake). He played it off well by dancing around lol.

For the record: nothing wrong with enjoying your own round. I'm glad you decided to do this video. I wouldn't call it "reacting" so much as giving us the analysis and perspective of the performing artist, that sweet sweet insider knowledge. In my books this battle was a win for you. Even with the small "mistakes" Rythmind made, I think you showcased more technical skill with the loop, better musical composition, and stronger singing/rapping. I agree that Rythmind's drumkit and raw power are a level above your rounds and that he's probably the best in the world for those elements. Definitely agree that if the rounds were switched and you went last, Saro's indecision might've swung your way, since he was clearly hyped and reacted so strongly to Rythmind's Thunderstruck yet STILL hesitated. One thing I dislike about this judging panel, is that Beatness is present and judging his own tag team loopstation partner, and Berywam brother. I don't think that should happen in the future; it'd be the same as if Chris TheOdian sat as a judge and voted for you in this same context - the panel needs to be as fair and impartial as possible, and to me that wasn't the case here. I'm perfectly aware that Beatness voted against Rythmind "fairly" in the battle against Frosty, but I don't believe that battle was close to the 50/50 that this one was. That being said, no animosity towards Beatness or Rythmind, love them both. This collab with Chris was great, would love to see more! 🦑

Agree on that Beatness note
@benzenefire2 жыл бұрын
Just to counter the Beatness point, remember that Saro was Brez’s roommate for a while (and still voted against him). The beatbox scene nowadays is so tightly connected, and the battles so big, that I imagine it’s hard to find a good spread of judges where none have a major connection to any of the battlers. Hell, Kenny Urban was judging Gene and NaPoM in the solo battles - and I still find it funny how he was the only one who voted for NaPoM against Zekka. Not saying Beatness was definitely unbiased, or even that he definitely should have been chosen as a judge, but at worst, well, I guess that’s why you have four other judges. You could always have more, but hey, that’s probably expensive. And even with five, you can still cancel out bias pretty well, as (potentially) shown in Zekka vs NaPoM. This battle was clearly close enough that almost any judge could have gone either way.

I am still upset that the judges didn't choose you. I've gotta say that you deserved better bro. Well done.

I agree with Chris, because this is not the first time that Rythmind make his round, mostly when he's recording the sounds, it takes too much time. From the previous battles of Ryth from GBB 2019, I notice it alot, but he deserves to win them because his rounds are better than others which means the drops and details of the rounds perfectly fill his mistake. But this battle, Brez's rounds are so good, there are mostly zero mistake from him and maybe he gets fully points for the the rounds. However Rythmind, his 1st round is perfect, nothing to discuss except his biggest mistake is recording the sounds too long ( but it's insignificant and not a big mistake for the judging panel ), his 2nd round has alot of mistake, he took too much time to prepare and we could see that he was struggling with the machine. Afterall, I really on Brez, and we could see his reaction after anoucement. For my opinion, GBB should change the judging panel and the judges too. If it's happen again, there would be alot of debation. Dont get me wrong, I respect Rythmind's rounds alot and I agree that his original sounds are so clean, and his drops and styles are new, mostly his sentence coutering Brez of 2nd round. Anyway, love you Brez and Chris for this video. Big up for Brez and Rythmind for the best looping battle of GBB 2021

Really great video and it's nice hearing Chris' analysis, he is really good at it. Personally I think the battle was super close and your rounds were definitely much cleaner than Rythmind's, but his rounds had way more impact and shock value which I think is important at the GBB. Although his second round did take quite a while and there were parts where it was long, the build up was more exciting as a crowd, especially with the MK2 comeback front (although not accurate cause obviously you've won a lot of competitions). I think you won the first round personally, but it was super close (52-48 in your favour) Your 2nd round build up is also quite long (1 minute 40 seconds) and I think the crowd were a little bored during this time, compared to Rythmind's where everyone was excited after recognising the Thunderstruck kicks (50 seconds), and then we get the front which gets the crowd hyped. For your second round I think people were only really hyped for the last 50 seconds, and at the time I thought you'd ran out of time with the way it ended. Although delayed, I think Rythmind's 2 drops at the end were slightly better than your final drop in the second round. I think without that 'surprise motherfucker' drop at the end you would win this, but that drop edged it towards Rythmind (that's how close it was)
@sugardude Жыл бұрын
This is surprisingly same with my thoughts. For first rounds i had same opinion with you. Nothing to add or remove. For second rounds, Rythmind indeed did better job at keeping crowd engaged during recording, crowd participation and progression to say. Personally I really didn't felt delay because even before drop, it was exciting and progression was steady. Introducing drums later was better choice in this case, because it gives more sense of progression. It's a thing I didn't thought about until this video and your comment so nice catch there. Number of drops also did play role too. I reckon Brez's round having just one drop was one of the reason behind your "ran out of time" feeling, since majority of music has two or more drops. In my opinion, Rythmind's 2nd round had considerable advantage as a music that was more than enough to make up for his mistakes. p.s. Brez was also an absolute beast! I listen to this battle as my workout music and I'm very much enjoying all 4 rounds :)

I loved to see you reacting to your own battle, even though you could tell it was a bit awkward for you (especially during your first round), but towards the end you sort of opened up and hearing your thoughts on this battle was super interesting! Getting Chris to do the reaction/analysis of the battle with you was the right decision and I´d absolutely love to see more of him/both of you! Thanks to both of you for shraing your thoughts on this! As for the battle: it could go either way for me. BreZ had the consistency, two straight up bangers for his rounds and the crowd energy from start to finish. Rythmind just showed of what the MkII was capable of (if it works properly, that is^^) and while his rounds did take a while to build up, the drops hit so hard it made up the wait for me. And as a metalhead, there was just no way I couldn´t love his Thunderstruck routine. If it had been possible, I would´ve voted for overtime.

something i find interesting is that if brez went second then rythmind wouldnt be able to respond to his front, and since brez's second round is like a counter to rythmind's MKII, sort of like saying i dont need an MKII to do the same things that you are doing, then if the battle ended with brez's round, the outcome of the battle may have changed. edit: just saw the end of the video, seems like rythmind had the same idea

For me this was a super close battle and that was also reflected in the judges split decision. Rythmind has one of the best drum kits but imo yours is absolutely on par with him. Your drums are powerful, groovy you can set them up so fast. You brought buckets of energy, the whole crowd was jumping. This was such a good battle and you were unlucky to lose. Edit: I also wondered what you said at 12:43 when I watched this live and watched it again recently so thanks for the subtitles lol
