Gotta hand it to em. No matter the reputation, at least they're not relying on the gen 3 G19 chassis to sell products.
@tray22

You say that but all the companies that picked up a clone of the g19 showed Glock what they could have built instead of going the way of apple with a slightly rounded corner and no actual innovation. IMO Glock is a one trick pony that has gotten very old in a race full of mustangs.
@HarbingerOfDeath10-67
@HarbingerOfDeath10-67 17 күн бұрын
@tray22 That pony has been selling circles around all those "mustangs" since right around 1990......... The reason Glock doesn't constantly mess with the designs of their products is because they work 100% reliability just the way they are. That is, of course, unless your feeble wrists are causing a malfunction. I'm not your typical Glock fan boy, but I own a couple, just like I own a couple of just about every brand, and the only other Gun Manufacturer that I trust with my life on a daily basis is Grand Power.

@@HarbingerOfDeath10-67 I own one as well but I prefer my M&P 9C over a glock. The trigger was better out of the box, had better sights, and the grip just fit my hand perfectly.

@tray22 You see, all those aftermarket parts that people buy and replace on their Glocks, might make em look cool, make em lighter, and dress up the trigger pull, but they also cause them to be less reliable. I don't know about you, but if I get even 1 malfunction out of each 100 rounds I put through a pistol, that is not a pistol that I'll be carrying when I leave my house.

Gotta appreciate Kel-Tec just for their attitude. They innovate, they develop new ideas, they invest, and they bring affordable products to market. That sets them apart from companies like Canik, Taurus, Tisas, and other "make a quick buck" companies. Of course, as soon as Kel-Tec focuses attention on affordable that's where compromises occur. However, to be fair, the one Kel-Tec I own (an RDB) has been reliable, it's just so unpleasant to shoot that it hasn't really been put to a real test and won't go to a real training. If they had spent just a tiny bit more on parts, I certainly would put it through real testing. I got it dirt cheap through an auction, so it's affordable enough as a novelty.

As a big P15 fan you missed 2 fun details. Its about the length of a G43X despite having 0.6" extra barrel. And There're basically no flashlights on the market which fit the rail. The only one I ever found to fit is the Olite Baldr Mini, which fits on everything and is noticeably wider than the gun itself unfortunately. And as bonus facts. Keltec promised us short slides and red dot mounts, which we never got and will never get. 😭

Just a few notes. First, for those of us with 'different' hands, depressing the grip safety is anatomically challenging while maintaining a proper grip and trigger position. Grip safeties don't scare me, they just don't work for me. Also... why? Second note is that Kel-Tec had a chassis system all the way back in 1995 with the P11. They also had a smaller and lighter double-stack 9mm than the SIG P365 back then. George doesn't seek the limelight or credit, but it is certainly due.

I like it!! Slim/thin is the major plus, for concealed carry. 👍🏼 Secondly, overall weight. So it has good capacity but that also adds to overall carry weight. Therefore, if in 380, then less ammo weight, abd perhaps still even smaller, then would be even better! 🙏🏼🤟🏼 One con is the takedown, needing a tool of sorts and be scraping on the gun, no, not good. That's gotta change. 👆🏼😓🙏🏼

Their story would be a good one for many firearms manufacturers to emulate. They show that you can spend money on development and pay American labor prices and still make affordable guns. Plenty of "affordable" competition out there from makers who do nothing to develop anything and pay only Turkish labor rates.

Bought a P11 back in the 90's as a truck gun....did not treat it with any love and it ran flawlessly for years. Trigger sucked, but no complaints
@JD-tn5lz
@JD-tn5lz 17 күн бұрын
Trigger weight is relevant, it's simply not paramount as many would have folks believe. Not anymore than an immeasurably short reset is. A trigger scale is merely, emphasis on Merely, a tool to objectively measure one attribute. It's an armorer's and gunsmith tool, that's it. Judging a firearm first by measuring it's trigger pull is akin to deciding what is the "best" caliber entirely by studying ballistics gel. They are both objective measures and by themselves, objective standards comfort the ignorant. Having a "light trigger" then calling it a "great gun" is akin to calling a Ford F450 a race car because you put slicks on it. The trigger is just one component of one tool. That component is merely one point of contact between one tool and...another.

A kel tec pistol in a hard box? Wow, they're moving up. I had a p11. It was a sweet little pistol other than the really stiff pistol. But it was made like that specifically as a safety. Learn to shoot at 20 yrds with that and you'll be able to shoot anything effectively and efficiently.

I also respect innovation BUT my P17 22lr, even after careful cleaning, is after 500rds, shooting like it's wearing out. That's on CCI Minimags. I'll be sending it back soon/using that "lifetime warranty". I don't EDC .22lr SO for occasional plinking, I won't be spending anymore in a handgun in that caliber. Regarding this pistol, there are a myriad of affordable, STURDIER alternatives in 380 and 9mm I'd trust over this.

Any rimfire pistol is a crapshoot. Even Brownings and Rugers. Hopefully your experience will be better with Kel-Tec than mine was with Taurus. Thing is, as cheap as they are (both the Kel-Tec and the TX22) it's usually just easier to either just buy spare parts and do the work yourself or just buy another rather than deal with the headaches. Certainly, Kel-Tec can't be as bad as Taurus.

SAR not only is ISO rated, they are a NATO manufacturer as well as a competitor in the international market for police and military contracts. They have, and rightfully so, enough confidence in their products to challenge others to destructive testing. Not so for Canik. Every gun by a manufacturer that doesn't seek those lucrative contracts is suspect. I don't care if whomever builds a great competition gun "for the money." If it's not built for duty, it's not for me except as a toy.
