I own the original version of the P32 and the newer version too. I have never had any issues with mine and one of them is with me almost everyday. I routinely practice with both of them from 5 to 10 yards and I have never experienced any tumbling or key holing but I don't ever shoot Winchester 22 lr, 32 auto or 380 which from experience is some of the worst ammo currently available. PMC and Fiocchi full metal jacket is what my P32s like. I see zero reason to shoot hollow points out of these pocket pistols both for lack of penetration and for possible rim lock due to hollow points being shorter than full metal jacket in general. I can almost get a two finger grip on mine with the flush magazine. Pearce makes magazine grip extensions that fit on the Beretta Tomcat and the Keltec P32. Three good things besides the weight and smooth trigger on the P32 compared to the Tomcat are the Keltec won't give you slide bite, its frame won't crack (two of my Tomcats developed cracked frames and I was using Beretta recommended ammo) and the Keltec is way less expensive than the Tomcat. I paid less than $300 for a new one. The bad thing about the P32 is finding one for sale. Keltec does not make many of them.

Absolutely a great gun. A buddy has had one since early 2000’s. I have had one for many years. Absolutely no issues. Yes, it is truly a defensive firearm. But it’s one that can always be carried. Some people carry pocket knife’s that are larger and heavier. Keltec - if reading - I have multiple of your products. Know it would be a tough re-design but my opinion is a “double stack” P32 would be huge! Massive product differentiation.

its not a hard redesign you literally just change up the frame and some cuts in the slide and maybe the feed ramp so the thing can accept vz.61 mags. what's hard is getting the tolerances right so it feeds reliably. design is always the easiest part.

I have been looking at the P32 for a while, but prices were crazy and it’s a bit hard to find. Well this summer I finally found one when I stopped in Scheels in the used gun display. Only wanted $325 for it so I got it. It’s everything I’d wanted. Number one was reliable. It has not had a malfunction yet, it just works. I like that it is so thin and light weight. I carry it all the time in my pocket and it prints like a cell phone and I don’t even notice it. I like that the trigger has a long consistent pull, you have to deliberately want to shoot the thing. But one thing is correct, it’s a close range gun. Further than 10 yards the bullet are scattering bigger an a man’s torso. It’s my everyday carry now.😊

I have owned many Kel Tec’s for almost 25 years now. Both handguns and long guns. I only had problems with one of them that they don’t make anymore. Other than that one, they all have been reliable. KT produces the most innovative firearms that are unique and functional. They think “out of the box” when designing their firearms. KT’s are all designed with weight and size in mind and therefore get a bad rap for feeling and looking cheap. If they were so bad why do so many people buy them? Also, their customer service is very good. The P32 is designed for contact (arms length) distance fights. It is better than using fists but not as good as a knife. The P32 is extremely small and very easy to carry and much thinner and lighter than the authors’ Beretta. It is a minimalist pistol shooting a minimalist bullet. This is a pistol that you carry when you can’t carry anything bigger I.e. jogging, wearing formal clothing, etc. It fits the old saying that the most important thing in a gunfight is to have a gun. Yes they are expensive because they are so popular. Try to go find one in a gun store. 32 ACP ammo isn’t easy to find and in a hollow point even harder. Being so small and low powered, an argument can be made that hollow point ammo is a waste of money and can lead to functioning uncertainty. FMJ ammo is better suited for this caliber as all you are try to do is to put holes in the bad guy and expanding 32 caliber bullets don’t really expand. Tumbling bullets are a result of being shot out of a very short barrel. Even if you have to shoot a bad guy 21 feet away (which is this pistols maximum distance) a tumbling bullet will still do damage. I don’t own this model but have a P3-AT which is the same gun (very slightly larger) in .380 ACP. KT doesn’t make this gun anymore which is sad. It is still very small and light and shoots a more powerful bullet. I treasure mine.

Two thoughts 1- the Keltec 32 and the 380 (P3AT) are essentially the same size and between the two I prefer the 380 with self-defense founds for protection over the two. Second, while the 380 is very functional for self-defense, it is not a fun handgun to shoot at the range (or anywhere else.)

When I was shopping for a deep-conceal piece in 2011, I did indeed compare the two. What won me over to the .32 were essentially three factors: higher capacity, both in the gun and in spare magazines, a last-shot slidelock, and a somewhat softer-shooting round that would help facilitate faster target re-acquisition and follow-up shots.

Don’t see why you keep saying you feel recoil so much to where you may only shoot one box of ammo at practice. I have smaller thin hands compared to you without a lot of meat section on them to absorb recoil, and I can shoot 3-4 boxes at a time at range and never experience a problem with recoil with the 32 cartridge in this gun that weighs only 6 ounces empty and 11 ounces loaded. Also I can stay inside a large coffee cup at 7 yards rapid fire with this gun because I don’t experience the recoil you speak of. It’s like a 22lr coming out of it to me.

But much less than a similar sized 380, so thats why i got it bc it is the most powerful carryable smallest pocket pistol that i want to actually practice with. For me its not really the recoil but the way the gun sends that into the hand through the narrow grip and that the small trigger guard tends to slap into my index finger. I carry mine when I really need something thin that will disappear under light clothing. Yes, the sites are pretty terrible, and the trigger is long and takes practice. However, with practice solid center mass shots can be made reliably and very quickly & easily out to 10 yards especially when an ArmaLaser TR1 is attached such as on mine. I have not had keyholing problems with my gun. I see no signs of the bullet tumbling or in any way becoming unstable on targets I've shot out to 25 yards. I also have a Ruger LCPII 380 but the KelTec is so much thinner and lighter that many times the P32 get carried. While I have seen some problems with KelTec firearms over the years (every company has them occasionally) the P32very rarely has any issues and mine has been 100% reliable with several different loads. You do have to shoot ammo that fills the magazine front to back. The 32 ACP is a semi rimmed cartridge so it can rim lock causing a malfunction if the rounds are short thereby allowing the rounds to slide in the mag from movement both while caried and during recoil. The gun rides very well in a pocket holster, inside the waist with a thin holster and ankle holster (as a back up)
@brianshuler6951
@brianshuler6951 5 ай бұрын
I have owned and carried a first gen P32 for 24 years and I agree with your assessment. I have had rim lock twice and both times were my fault for not being careful while loading the mag. Rapidly slamming rounds into the mag can result pushing a top round over the rim of the lower cartridge. I learned early with the P32 to insert the rounds gently until the rim just slips into the notch in front of the rim of the lower round. I have not had a rim lock in 20 years.
