@michaelbrohl16256 ай бұрын
I totally agree. The Ruger is thinner, less tall, lighter, holds 1 more round, doesn't have the dumb thumb safety that flips up to fire instead of down, and is about $100 less expensive. There is no comparison. Ruger for the win.

Both are great options but the Walther has better ergonomics and has a nice SA trigger pull. Ruger is a tad thinner, an extra round and cheaper. Pick your poison.

Great video as always GB 🤟🏾 The design and looks of this firearm is cool however it comes up short for me. Primarily because of the limited capacity, then not being optics ready. The gold standard of 380, at least in my opinion, is the äuget Security 380. The only downside being a lack of optics ready slide but awesome capacity.

I’d be interested to see how it matches up with the 3.5” PDP-F - a comparison in size, weight, how it conceals and how comfortable it’s to carry. I can’t imagine it being that much smaller than the 9mm F (which I carry IWB) either way - any PDP is a sexy looking beast!!

TY for bullet fit shot showing unsupported barrel = no reloads, which was the only way to make shooting 380's cheap for range time. I like how the pistol felt in hand & similar profile to Walther's 22 for training. But if you got the press, dies & bullet molds - you always like to reload slightly expensive bullets.

I would have considered the new PD380 but the lack of a decocker is a deal killer for me. I guess I'll just stick with Beretta and CZ (and maybe some old Rugers and S&W's). Thanks, Graham.
@erroneous69478 ай бұрын
I’d prefer if it had an actual decocker also.
@MrSmith-zy2bp8 ай бұрын
CZ SP01 doesn't have a decocker and also has a DA/SA trigger. The hammer has to be manually lowered, with nothing to block the firing pin like the PD380 has. 🤷🏻♂️
@brianscott28958 ай бұрын
The safety blocks the rear of the pin allowing you to drop the hammer manually. A decocker blocks the pin also then slams the hammer forward. Seems like the same thing to me...maybe safer to drop hammer manually. You do have to slightly pull trigger to release hammer but not enough to disengage internal firing pin safety.
@DirtyDan46598 ай бұрын
@@brianscott2895man I would’ve suggested this to my mom, but she’s starting out with firearms and lowering the hammer yourself is challenging for 1st timers. I don’t know who else this is marked to. Not necessarily 1st timers, but it should be intuitive for someone with low dexterity to operate (and lets say potentially lower skill). If CZ had a compact hammer or striker gun in 380 I would grab it in a heartbeat.
@GarfieldEnjoyer18787 ай бұрын
@@brianscott2895I think it would be less safe. More steps so another chance to mess up. You could think you’re safely decocking the firearm but actually have the safety off so it ends up going off.

If a person is very recoil sensitive this may be a good option as the recoil with this locked breach (as opposed to the PPK/PP design of straight blow back) design will be considerably less than 9mm. I can’t understand why they haven’t taken this design to a stack and a half magazine that would accommodate more rounds. Having a mag like that of the LCP Max would be an easy engineering feat and would not increase the size of the already substantial grip.

Finally someone asking the same question that I'm asking. I wrote to Walther requesting the PD9. I really like the non-decocker safety, but I would much prefer a slide release, rather than racking to return to battery. With this safety, it is like having a single-action only pistol.

You know gun manufacturers have been trying to reach a broader audience and people new to firearms are scared of recoil. They believe that big guns equal painful recoil. Walther did not make this firearm for the tactical crazies out there or the Fudds. They made it for people who will probably buy one gun and one gun only or for the spouses of gun guys who hate recoil. I hope the other gun tubers don’t kill this firearm like they did the smith and Wesson csx.
@GBGuns8 ай бұрын
The S&W CSX I bought was junk. I've heard they later fixed things, but I didn't get a recall or notification from S&W, they were just happy to have made some money.
@JD-tn5lz8 ай бұрын
I'm a Smith fan and I will say unequivocally state that guntubers didn't unnecessarily bash the CSX. It was/is a horrible gun upon release. Horrible. The worst of it was, it was a good idea but a very poor effort by S&W. I hope that they took it back to the drawing board and tried again, though I doubt they could regain the lost interest.
@mikee72418 ай бұрын
@@GBGuns I agree the launch of the pistol was bad, I was using the csx as an example that if it dosent make sense to most guntubers they will unequivocally bash the pistol. The initial launch of the p365 was , I would say worse, but because it made sense to guntubers they gave it a second chance and now their are multiple versions of the p365. At the end of the day I want as many people in the U.S armed and focusing only on the one demographic alienates others.
@GBGuns8 ай бұрын
@mikee7241 That's why I do my best to review everything I can get my hands on. S&W didn't want to send us a CSX, and I found out why when I bought one. If you do a little looking around at Walther products, you'll find that distinct grip, grip angle, and slide pre-dating and existing alongside the P22 Umarex "Walther." Also, btw. The umarex p22 was a zinc alloy slide, which was the root of nearly all of it's problems. If you have a cracked slide P22 (common fate) I suggest you contact Walther. Even with an old one it's quite likely (no guarantee, but worth a phone call, why not?) they'll make good for you with a new slide. Walther USA customer service has been topnotch in the past. Best of luck.

The paddle mag release on this little gun is awkward. There’s no slide stop. You have to decock it like a revolver. They take down is complicated. I feel like it was not made for the American market. It just misses the mark. In a lot of ways. That’s disappointing. Meanwhile everyone is waiting for a follow up to the PPSM2 in a double stack or the PDP in a micro size
