As a new gun owner I didn't know much about Walther or any other brand of firearms, but I bought this gun last summer and it does not disappoint. Its just really esthetically pleasing to hold and shoot. The grip really bites into your hand which gives that "I'm in control" kinda feeling which I think is important. The recoil does take some getting used to but overall this gun gets a 10/10 for me. I plan on changing out the rear sight and adding a red dot to it as well. Just a really great gun.

I’m so happy Walther didn’t change the best parts about the ppq. They left the same grip shape and profile, left the internals the same so we know it’s going to be a proven and reliable platform. They simply updated a few things people complained about like the grip texture aggressiveness and ability to mount an optic without deleting the rear sight. Both wins in my book. Maybe now the ppq will come down in price and I can score one for a good deal 😂. Good review and nice gun!

It’s an absolute beauty. Currently Walther has no plan to release this with the paddle magazine release. I totally understand that in the US market it’s not that popular, however I prefer the paddle release and hope they do so in the future.
@txtravler13 жыл бұрын
my first edition PPQ had the paddle mag release and I thought it much superior to the USA style grip button release. Most who tried it actually preferred it or said they thought they could get used to it very quickly.
@adam727883 жыл бұрын
All of my Walther’s (PPQ, P99) except for my PPK have the paddle mag release. My carry gun, the HK VP9SK, has it too. Since I have smaller hands, I’m able to actuate it better by using my middle finger instead of having to re-position my grip to hit a button style release with my thumb. To each their own though. It comes down to preference and training. I’ve trained my whole life with paddles so I’m better with that. Here’s to hoping Walther offers the PDP with it in the future! ;)

@fishfood87193 жыл бұрын
@@jamesg8246 I have the PPS M2 non-optics ready and the PPQ M2. PDP is essentially an upgraded optics ready PPQ. Which is relative in size to the Glock 19, CZ -P10C, HK VP-9, M&P-9 ect. The PDP also comes in a larger variant comparable to a G-17 or duty size. PPS is a single stack subcompact=shorter barrel, shorter grip and thinner ( Glock 43, Mp Shield). A Walther PPQ subcompact, Glock 26, HK-VP9sk, are double stack subcompacts( compact - subcompact used differently by different brands). I'm sure eventually they will come out with the subcompact version. Only added thickness, keeping shorter barrel and grip. I recently built a thousand dollar glock 19 using a polymer80 lower. This gun basically has the same exact features besides for it having no night sights or aluminum trigger. You're basically getting the quality of an apex trigger kit without the trigger shoe with this gun. In polymer80 terms this gun is worth around $830 and you're getting it for $600 😳👍. It's honestly one of the best deals I've seen in a really long time. If I would have known this was coming I would have never built a p80. Im definitely going to buy one!! . Im going to wait a year and let the company work out any problems it might have. It seems like most gun's have minor issues throughout the first year. I have a really good feeling about this firearm :). It might be the best one yet when it comes to pistols under a thousand dollars.

I just got back from Cabelas in Virginia and sadly they didn't have one in stock despite showing it on their website. I was going to drop the money then and there. All in all it looks like a great update to the PPQ, but I honestly can't understand why they did it now when the market is screaming for micro-9mm guns, from Glock's 43 line to Sig's P365 which apparently was the best selling gun last year. I hope they do well with this, but the PPS and/or CCP deserve an update (with improved capacity) also.

I'm still not sold on red-dot. I think it's the toy of the moment every one is trying to push on the consumer. We didn't need it before we don't today. We have to retrain to use it effectively...making us less accustomed to iron sights when the battery suddenly dies. Pluz, in a "real" situation (e.g. personal/home defence) situation the shooting distances will be closer we assumed and the point will no longer be getting 2" groupings (on a moving ...more likely multiple...targets). A head to head with the HP VP9 is inevitable. Maybe you could do one. Or, wait to see what HK puts out in response to the PDP. I'm betting the VP9 still feels better in most hands. Which matters more than anything else IMHO. If any gun doesn't "feel right" in our hands we're not going to shoot it. How it feels will affect our accuracy. ..obviously. Or should be obvious. PDP...sounds like a good gun...if you don't already own a few semi-polymer guns already. But what I'm thinking is...how long will it be before Walther puts out a SF version of the PDP? :) Like to wait and see if/when they do. Probably get the SF version instead. Even over the HK VP9 or their 2021 gun which won't be all steel. Odd they never made a steel 'slide/frame VP9.

Looking up videos on the PDP and this one begins with Train of Consequences by Megadeth….you have my attention sir!

Any holster in particular that you recommend for the PDP 4”?. Order one from this particular brand OWB , but print to much , not tight at all in your waist . Feels really good for duty carry , range and training but not for carry.

Excellent review, thanks! Are the serrations on the slide sharp, like those on the CZ P-10 pistols?

No

Is the trigger better than the canik tp9sf elites? That is the best trigger i have ever felt, even better the the ppq

I've seen it demonstrated that you can put a PDP slide on a PPQ. It would be interesting to see a PDP slide on a Q4 SF grip....

Haha, I posted a pic of the PDP 5" on PPQ M1 frame. The Steel Frames are different and not reverse compatible

@@GBGuns That's a drag. Oh well, thanks for the reply.

No problem. If it helps the PDP frame shape and feel is basically a polymer version of the Q4 SF

Hopefully they will make it in .40 or .45.

PPQ was produced also in .45 ACP and I think that PDP in 45 will be Walther's next step. I am waiting on some recoil reviews, because PPQ in 9mm Luger was remarkable more leaping gun in comparison with f.e. Glocks or CZ P10C...

13:39 Such question please. DE means Germany. What does CA mean? And what does that petal symbol or what it is mean. It is engraved directly after CA. Please reply.

No factory target is included by Walther now? And no paddle mag release. Dammit, I'll still buy one but I must protest!

I have the 5" PPQ with paddle mag release sold at Gunbuyer.com. Got it in black for about 469. They offer colored barrels for more.

And here I was hoping for some small handgun, possibly single stack for ccw from Walther. Yeas, they have CCP and PPK but something higher quality in 9mm and hammer fired would be appreciated.

I don't get it either. The market is screaming for CCW handguns with high capacity (the P365 was the best selling gun last year and the year before) and Walther decides to redesign the PPQ. It was needed, I'll grant them that, but people have been hollering for a Walther answer to the P365 since it was released 2-3 years ago. Perhaps their reasoning was that all those people who bought P365's won't be easy to sell a new gun to so soon? In any case my PPS is still a great shooter and I don't feel under gunned carrying it as much as I'd like a few more rounds in the magazine just for insurance. It's not enough of a worry to get me to go out and buy a Sig. They are actually too small for my hand. I was hoping they would redesign the CCP.
