I have the EDC 4.25. For the money it's a great buy! A feature packed 2011. I also have a few STI 2011's. Both are very good but the STI fit and finish is better and you do get what you pay for. It's twice the price of the Bull Armory. The Bull Armory is a great 2011 for the money even with the minor things I don't like about it. It handles very quickly and light due to the aluminum frame. Trigger drops at a crisp 3-1/2 lbs. but does have more creep than I like, after hitting the 'wall' and before releasing the hammer. Reset is crisp and quick. Very predictable. I'm picky about trigger action. It is still a very good trigger action. Better than any production 1911 I've handled and better than some customs. The ambi safety levers design is perfect IMHO. Pads are plenty long and nicely narrow for concealed carry. IMHO.........Both safety detents are too light for Concealed Carry. This can be easily fixed with a stiffer plunger spring. The barrel chamber, feed ramp and bore are highly polished. Came with three, 18 round black steel mags that feed great. I like that they include this many. The mags have three cartridge witness holes on the spine that are not numbered and weirdly spaced. The bottom hole doesn't align with the 18th round or anything. There are two holes in the front of the mag that do nothing. Can't see anything through the holes. Maybe the odd holes are there to bleed water? The front green fiber optic rod should be a larger diameter. Kind of hard to pick quickly. I wish the black PVD slide coating was more durable. It scratches very easy and doesn't look real good. Frame is anodized and looks much better. I will probably have both DLC coated at some point. Glad I tore it down as soon as I did to check things. The fire pin spring was slightly rusted even though it was covered in oil. It is still functional. The Take Down Tool hole drilled in the recoil rod is not located properly. The hole needs to be located more towards the chamber end to be effective. The tool itself was the correct diameter, but the bent leg portion was too long which didn't allow it to be inserted with the slide locked back (just like in this video). I had to cut about 3/16" off of it to make it work. I'll re-drill the rod to the correct location and make a proper tool for take down in the future. The barrel hood does not contact the breech face when in Battery. It could have been fitted better.

One of the main advantages I've seen about using an optic is that I focus less on maintaining a sight picture, and more on trigger manipulation. That is with a stock Glock. I haven't tried the fiber front sight, but I think I would like that sight picture, and I could be fine without an optic.

Good overview as always Graham. After your range evaluation, I'd be interested in your opinion and preference between the steel frame TAC vs. the aluminum frame EDC model. Obviously, there is a trade-off between carrying comfort vs. recoil mitigation due to the weight difference.

@@user-xy1nc4on6f I'd love to, but am not sure if I will. As a defense-oriented shooter I have strong feelings about ports. I think they're generally a bad idea for any gun intended for defense as chances are pretty good that gun won't be used on a nice open-air range, but could be used in a car, room, or fired from close contact.

Oh boy! This means that the 2024 EDC line _should_ be the next to arrive! It is the one that both my wife and I plan on acquiring as a 'His & Hers' combo. I get the Pro with the ports and she gets the standard non-ported version. Although, I will be carrying hers (without the ports) as my new EDC pistol. Guess that means we are back to 'Hurry up and wait' once again. The story of my life. I just wish BUL Armory was more communicative. The manufacturer will tell you to talk to the distributor and vice versa. Just rinse and repeat. That is no way to run a business regardless of your whereabouts but I digress. Nevertheless, I am _thoroughly_ excited for this new 2024 EDC model. They really do listen to customer feedback. I have no shame admitting that I am among those that continually requested the flush fitting bull barrel. As well as the removal of the magwell for better concealment and comfort. As always, BUL Armory did not disappoint. Meanwhile, I must say that you have certainly earned my subscription. Excellent presentation, Graham. Stay classy my friend.

@BertShackleford
@BertShackleford 2 ай бұрын
@@GBGuns Indeed they do. I have been a patron of BUL Armory for many years now, so I am glad to hear others have figured out the system. BUL Armory _was_ the best kept secret in the industry for the longest time. My selfishness certainly played a part in that role. However, they have earned their time to shine. Just happy to see that the quality has remained the same, if not better, over the years. Although, they still need to work on their communication. It was never their strong point. Not to be misconstrued with customer service. Inquiries will get you a boilerplate response. Whereas, warranty work is flawless. Overall, their customer service is above many others in the 2A industry. Stay classy my friend.

I would think the grip safety helps with drop-safety. Maybe the Staccatos don't have enough spring pressure on the grip safety?

@@gbgunsmedia I think when Ben Stoeger got the Staccato to go off, the hammer stayed cocked, it was simply the firing pin going forward. No firing pin block.
@michaelmcduff2263
@michaelmcduff2263 17 күн бұрын
They are all 70 series pistol. They DO NOT have a firing pin block like an 80 series. A strong firing pin spring should be used in all 70 series guns…. or any 80 series guns which have had the Firing Pin Block Safety disconnected to reduce the potential for an accidental discharge from dropping the gun.. An Extra Power spring also ensures the Firing Pin Stop stays in place during cycling. My EDC came with an EXTRA EXTRA POWER rated firing pin spring installed. Most modern 1911s and 2011s manufactures today supply the Extra Power springs as standard. Les Baer pistols come with an EXTRA EXTRA Power rated spring. Extra Power springs are typically 19 oz. and further reduces the chance of unintentional firing upon dropping the gun on the muzzle. Digital Scale weight of the Bull A. spring at the Standard 1911 static installed length (at rest length in the slide) of 1.545 was 24 oz.. Digital Scale spring weight of the Bull A. spring at the Actual Installed static length (at rest length in this slide) of 1.389” was 31 oz. !!! The installed static length of this Bull EDC is shorter than a typical 1911 and therefore exerts more spring tension on the pin. 31 oz. is the highest fire pin spring pressure I've ever seen. I see no reason to have such a strong fire pin spring. It can cause mis-fires. I'll be watching for mis-fires at the range and switch to less strong EXTRA POWER spring which is rated at the more commonly used 19oz..

The only thing I’d like to see them do is an external extractor, and a full length rail/dust cover. It’s 2024 and we’re past tuning unreliable extractors, and if you’re gonna make the frame out of aluminum, then don’t worry about adding another inch to the front of it.

@GBGuns

@BU1Lander
@BU1Lander 2 ай бұрын
This may be a stupid question, but why does no one make a "generic" optic cut that is flat with holes that match each pattern of optic, and posts that may be inserted in the required holes? You wouldn't need plate systems that would add height to the optics, and a set of pins (probably shouldn't need more than four and that would cover all patterns of optics) would cost much less than even a single adapter plate. It would also make it much easier to co-witness with irons without needing suppressor height sights.
@GBGuns
@GBGuns 2 ай бұрын
I believe because you still need recoil lugs for the optic, otherwise all the stress ends up on the screws which eventually break. The closest thing to what you're talking about is the system used on the HS Produkt Echelon.

@GBGuns that would be extremely nice. I'd have to look over the specs to see a nominal width, but a grip frame that could use the 15 and 17 round Hellcat magazines might be quite nice.

Thank you for sharing this video of yours. Bul Armory makes extremely high quality 2311 pistols. My husband is still looking to purchase a 2311 / 2011 pistol. You're absolutely correct on the magazines made by or for Bul Armory. They are also less expensive than the 2011 magazines. A well known 2011 manufacturer recently semi acknowledged a magazine issue and is offering a new spring and follower. The new spring and follower make the magazine minus one round as well. Bul Armory pistol is still less expensive than another well known manufacturer in the USA. Even if my husband gets a 15 percent LE discount the price is slightly cheaper . Good for you, optics is a fad. It's making companies very wealthy. I'm hopping my husband goes with the Bul Armory 🧐 Awesome video of yours. Have a great day 😄🙏
