THANK YOU, TIM, FOR THIS DESIGN TUTORIAL! I'MFASCINATED BY THOSE "ODD" AIRCRAFT DESIGNS, ( FLYING WINGS, DELTA WINGS, FORWARD-SWEPT-WING, CANARDS, B IPLANE/TRIPLANES, ELIPTICAL WINGS, SAILPLANES, AUTOGYROS, ETC.)...

Wow. That was a lot packed in to a video. Thanks for doing that ! I always learn a lot when I watch your content. It looks like a great little flyer as well. I'm going to embark on building a similar single engine "sporty" flyer, based on what motors I have lying around (a bunch of emax CF2812's I bought years ago). Probably won't be much different to what your foam bug ended up! 😄🛩

Brett: The twin did fly well. It would be very easy to simply stick a single motor on the nose and build a single engine version. Good luck! Tim

Hey Tim, would you recommend 3-d printing the ribs of the plane to more accurately create your desired airfoil shape?
@TimMcKay565 ай бұрын
3D is always better and more accurate. For my sport fliers a hand sketch rib seems to work OK. 😁

HI Tim, I have watched many of your videos. Great stuff. A question about RC aircraft design: 1) Recommendations regarding CAD software to purchase and learn from. Not too expensive and beginner user friendly? I notice you have used QCad and TurboCad. Recommend? 2) Now I'm retired I would like to get involved in RC design, build and fly. Initially, start building from kits and then progress onto design. Would this be your recommendation? Carry on with your channel as it is a great resource for the community. Regards, Pete (UK based).

Pete: Greetings from across the pond! Your design plan sounds like a winner. I have several videos on aircraft design. www.QCAD.org for sure on the 2D CAD work. TurboCAD just too expensive now. I have some videos on QCAD, plus they have a great forum on the site. Tim

Tim, many thanks for your prompt reply. Much appreciated. I will certainly look into QCAD based upon your recommendation. Any thoughts regarding books on RC aircraft design? Again, beginner friendly to more advanced publications would assist as I make progress in self-study on the topic. Thank you. Kind regards, Pete (UK).

Depends on the plane. 10% of aircraft weight is a good starting point. Tim
