I voted remain, but I certainly don't blame Brexit for our economic woes. The main cause of these, by far, were the totally insane and unnecessary lockdowns and restrictions. And for what? A relatively innocuous virus that killed well under 1% of the population, and where the vast majority of even these deaths were in very old and/or very sick people, many of whom would have died soon anyway.

You seem to be under the impression that the UK were the only one's who suffered lockdowns. Every country in the G7 had lockdowns & most in the G20, yet Britain is at the bottom of the list in terms of growth. There has been a loss of £100 billion with trade with the EU & the only external trade deals so far, are with Australia & New Zealand which basically involve importing cheap lamb into Britain from the other side of the world to undercut British farmers. Half the world is facing similar problems to the UK & yet most of them are doing better than the UK. There will come a time when there will be nothing left to blame & then people will have to face reality.

@@LowPlainsDrifter60no one thought we’d get instantly richer after voting for brexit in fact, they knew we’d take a hit. The issue is, the Leadership didn’t make use of our new found freedom, because they didn’t even want or expect it to succeed in the first place, also, funnily enough, it wasn’t really until the lockdowns…that we went from the fastest growing nation in the G7, to the slowest. Yet somehow that’s brexits fault? Stop being deluded and upset, we haven’t had a normal year since we left, almost straight after we did, there was the virus, lockdowns, now the war.

@@quimble2177 Funny how Britain was the "fastest growing" right up until the UK actually actually left the EU in 2020 & is now the slowest since leaving for real. You can blame the lockdowns, the war in Ukraine or Tom, Dick & Harry but the fact is, the UK are the only one's who had Brexit & they are now in the worst position. No country has had a "normal year" since the beginning of 2020 & yet most are doing better than the UK. Interested to hear what you mean by " the Leadership didn’t make use of our new found freedom,"......what exactly could they have done that they couldn't have before ?

That's a good question, now let me return with two questions. Given all the current "Bregret" news we are seeing at present, it is highly evident Rejoin would win a second referendum. With that knowledge to hand, would a vote to remain outside of the EU be a pointless vote...? Additionally, as Brexit has turned out to be a total mess (as per Nigel Farage's comments) does it make common sense to vote against the majority of the "Bregret" population...?

Berkow just threw up prepared hyperbole haranguing Farage. If Bercow was intelligent he would have attacked the comments that Farage actually made in the interview and shoot him down. But didn't happen did it. Just some ranting, while Farage looked dignified. Bercow didn't even give Farage a chance to put his foot in his mouth. Bercow = idiot.

I'm not British. But Bercoe just talked over the top of people, showing a great ignorance. I don't know what he actually does (politics?) but it appeared that he'd prepared his speech points in advance and didn't answer any questions or adequately refer to comments that the interviewer or Faraga made. Talking over the top and falsely accusing people of saying things that they didn't isn't very smart really. Viewers can see that. As a non Brit with no interest in Brexit, Farage played it well with a straight bat. Bercoe made the mistake of harranguing Farage, but not able to really address the issues that Farage had made. So missed the mark. If you are going to harrangue someone, listen to what they say and then attack the argument. Don't just take the microphone and talk some diatribe over the top of everyone for five minutes.

Me neither. As with most other polls, it will have been poorly conducted and/or agenda serving. Anyway, I have a couple of issues with this discussion. First, the invitation to "bully boy" Bercow to take part. I note the preening, little pixie has lost none of his tendency to shout over anyone he wishes, as he did as Speaker, during the days he made up parliamentary procedure as he went along. Bercow embodies the rotten parliament that, for over 2 years, spat in the face of democracy until it was dissolved in 2019. Second, two highly paid MPs moonlighting on GB News at a time that most MPs devote to their constituents. Mr. Farage, of course, spoke a great deal of sense (when he was allowed to).

Who is Bercow? He seemed quite ignorant. If you're going to harrangue Farage, then actually listen to what he;s saying and give a smart intelligent response to the comment and shoot it down. Bercow just seemed to have prepared a speech in advance where he accused Farage of saying all these things, which he hadn't and then just keep on talking. Not very intelligent really. Only the stupid would be conned by that, but lets face it the electorate of all persuasions are quite stupid. Farage didn't really have to say anything but play it safely so appeared more rational.

Had they done so it would have considerably eased the burden of ordinary citizens in terms of energy costs and personal attire. Regarding the topic of Brexit, Nigel makes several excellent points. In order for Brexit to be a success, we required the cooperation of politicians on all sides of the issue. The reality is, as Nigel pointed out very well, MPs did not believe in Brexit and would, with the assistance of Speaker Bercow, stymie the process of leaving the European Union in any way they could. We had to deal with the COVID virus as well as the conflict in Ukraine, as if dealing with politicians wasn't difficult enough. As you can see, there were a great deal of challenges that stood in the way of the Brexit becoming a successful event. It is imperative that politicians from both parties come together in order to carry out Nigel Farage's vision for how Brexit should be carried out.

Yes, a cooperation that would have bruised too many egos to be given.

It would have been one long slide towards Schengen and the Euro and one EU army. Our deal would not have been tolerated forever and you know it. You’re seeing things in too short term a way. As for FOM how has mass immigration benefited the people murdered raped or robbed by EU nationals? How has expanding the population by 6 million EU citizens benefitted wages, school places or hospital waiting lists. Great if you want a cheap nanny or easy access to your holiday home in Nice but not so good if you’re competing with floods of builders or your kid gets held back because every other kid in class has English as a 2nd language. I also noted that recently a report was documenting ‘declining productivity’ in the UK in the last 20 years. Funnily enough during that same period of time we were in the EU and mass immigration from Eastern Europe accelerated. Swings and roundabouts. I can't believe I'm sat here watching the Gammon Brexshit channel, but it was kind of worth it to see Nigels sad face several times as he got pummeled by the facts. It's unfortunate that those absolutely awful presenters kept repeatedly cutting John off every time he was saying something that embarrassed Nigel, but then their bias wasn't exactly unexpected. It's GB News after all. The most glaringly obvious one was when John started listing off all the damage Brexshit has done to the country. I could almost visibly see their hearts sinking, as they realised that everything he was listing was totally true and that they couldn't deny any of it, so they very quickly interrupted him so that Nigel could talk crap instead. I expect someone was shouting in their ear pieces "Quick! Stop him from talking now!" It's also so absurd watching Fartage continually blame the Tories for messing Brexshit up (it was previously all the Remainers and the EU's fault lol), considering the fact that he stood members from his own party down in the 2019 elections and told his supporters to all vote for the Tories. He was instrumental in helping them get their 80 seat majority, which they're currently using to shaft everyone and enrich themselves at everyone elses expense. The Brexiteers always blame others for the failure of their project, instead of just admitting that they got it wrong. But then they would never admit that would they, because I strongly suspect that each of them knew damn well that Brexshit was going to be disastrous for the country, and were only pursuing it for their own personal reasons (aka enriching their disaster capitalist mates and donors, who have indeed made a fortune out of everyone elses misery). It's a simple fact though that Brexshit was never going to succeed no matter who was at the steering wheel, because it was all based on lies and literally has nothing positive to offer. Brexshit relies exclusively on slagging off the EU, which is why Leave voters always struggle when asked the question "What are the benefits to Brexshit". Their most common response is "Well we don't have to do what the EU tells us any more", which isn't actually a benefit at all. Oh so our government doesn't have to abide by EU legislation that would force them to tax our energy companies and reduce our bills? Oh wow! Thanks for that! I'm also so glad that water companies can ignore EU laws that previously prevented them from polluting our waters with raw sewage. Great! So a Brexshit benefit is that if we go swimming on the south coast, we get the pleasure of swimming in literal shit. Fantastic! Brexshits "success" relies on the collapse of the EU so that the Brexiteers could all say "See! We were right! Look at the disaster we all avoided", something the Brexiteers were all insisting was going to happen. And yet it hasn't happened at all. On the contrary, it's now the UK that is facing the strong possibility of having it's own union break up, whilst the voices of right wing extremists in EU countries who were previously loudly calling for leaving the EU have now become very muted indeed. The UK is now serving as a warning to all EU member countries about what will happen to their country if they leave and stick their fingers up at their neighbours instead of working together. The only thing that has made Brexshit fail is Brexshit itself. And on top of all that, it's the EU that has been seeing actual benefits to Brexshit, whilst the UK has experienced nothing but problems. £1 trillion of banking assets and thousands of jobs left the UK to go to countries in the EU, as well as shit loads of companies that have also left the country because of the trade barriers making it impossible to do business with the rest of Europe. In fact, the governments own advice to struggling companies was to move their headquarters to an EU country. LMAO! How insane is that?!

Every time anyone has tried pointing out how shit Brexshit is, they get shot down with "Oh you don't respect the results of the vote. You hate democracy blah blah blah". The fact that you've included the BBC and LBC as being a left-talking echo chamber is laughable. The BBC is so bloody corrupt and biased in favour of right wingers, it's just laughable. 33% of the British electorate voted for Brexit (those entitled to vote) When Maggie allowed a Scottish referendum on devolution its limitation was that 40% of the electorate had to support it - it stopped devolution despite 52% of the votes cast were in favour. Fault, however, does lie with those who voted leave who now understand that they were deliberately and flagrantly lied to and yet still will not admit to having made a mistake Sometimes not even to themselves. As a Remain voter myself I think it rather pointless to levee blame on those who voted leave. Either they are now, like yourself, have realising their error ...and let's face it we all make mistake and none of us were given the true facts of the matter...or they really are stupid and still believe all the lies they were fed...in which case how can we blame them for complete stupidity if they cannot see that their choice has wrought havoc on our nation....they were either born that way or our education system has badly let them down. You can now see what has really happened and I, for one, really admire that you have now seen through those lies. The real ones to blame are Farage, Boris , Rees-Mogg, Dominic Cummings et all. Farage says the whole point of Brexit was to be "self-governing nation that.....means you can get things right and get things wrong". This is untrue. Brexit happened precisely because the UK was already an independent, self-governing nation, perfectly capable of unilaterally making the mistake, which was this Brexit. The EU could not force the UK (or Ireland & Denmark) to re-run the referendum and had no powers to prevent our exit. Only the UK Parliament could do that. Compare that constitutional arrangement to Scotland and any US or Australian State, all of which are legally unable to unilaterally leave their respective Union or federal constructs, specifically because they are NOT sovereign nations.

@@Vladpryde On the contrary. Farage and others had spent decades misrepresenting the nature of our Membership. 1. The UK became a member of the EEC only with Parliament's consent, largely contained in Section 2 of the European Communities Act (1972) 2. This gave effect to the Treaty of Accession (1972) and with it Parliamentary authority for EEC laws to apply in the United Kingdom . 3. Everything the EEC/EU subsequently did on the UK's behalf and every CJEU decision relied on the continuing assent of the UK Parliament. 4. The UK left the EU when Parliament formally withdrew its assent for EU laws to apply in the UK, by way of the European Union Withdrawal Acts (2018-2020). Both the granting and withdrawal of Parliamentary assent for EEC/EU laws to apply in the UK were only possible because Parliament remained throughout our membership, the ultimate legal and constitutional authority in the UK, on behalf of the Crown. This is known as Parliamentary sovereignty. By definition, 'ultimate authority' cannot be pooled, shared or ceded to another legal authority. 5. In fact, Parliament 'delegated' certain 'competences' to the EEC/EU to carry out on the UK's behalf as defined in the 1972 and subsequent treaties, in a similar way it 'devolves' certain competences to the Welsh and Scottish Assembly & Parliament. Powers are 'delegated' to authorities of equal legal status and 'devolved' to authorities of a lesser legal status. Therefore Farage's claim, the UK needed to leave the EU to restore its sovereignty was entirely false, but he and others persuaded enough people to believe that lie, which resulted in Brexit.

Not to mention that, since 1972, both the UK's government and the EU has become monumentally swollen with beaurocracy and bureaucrats. Kind of hard to claim Sovereignty when those dips are calling the shots. And if it's so easy to claim Sovereignty, then again: Brexit would not have been necessary, and the EU wouldn't have completely slammed the door in the UK's face when they left. That's not Sovereignty. That's blackmail.

@@Vladpryde "Being held hostage by a foreign government is not my definition of Sovereignty." Firstly, the EU is not a government. It has no territory, no citizens of its own, no head of state, no armed forces of its own and no powers of direct taxation. It's legal authorities are defined by treaty, outside of which it has no powers to act. Without the ongoing support of Member States, the EU cannot even exist. "It doesn't matter if Parliament signs off on it or not, the EU withholds not just money but treaties and Economic power from the UK if Parliament doesn't approve of something." You misunderstand the legal and constitutional reality. The EU had NO legal authority to withhold money or economic power (whatever that means) from the UK other than where such powers were defined in the treaties. When countries willingly bind themselves to international multilateral treaties, they accept the terms, conditions and procedures (incl. enforcement procedures) as defined in those treaties. That includes, where relevant, accepting the decisions of the majority even when they don't support those decisions. The mutual intention being, the benefits of membership outweigh the negatives. "Yes, they didn't have a choice." Parliament DID have a choice and exercised that choice throughout. It chose, as an independent sovereign nation to apply EEC/EU laws as defined by the treaties. It chose as an independent sovereign nation, to accept decisions of the majority even when it didn't approve of them. It chose as an independent sovereign nation, to hold a referendum, to give the EU Notice of its intention to leave and to subsequently disapply EU laws, "in accordance with its constitutional arrangements" (Article 50). The authority to make those choices is where sovereignty lies. The very fact the EU had no authority to prevent the UK leaving the bloc, is also proof positive of that sovereign independence. Neither Scotland nor any of the American or Australian States are independent sovereign nations precisely because they cannot legally and unilaterally leave their respective unions without the permission of a higher legal authority. "And if it's so easy to claim Sovereignty, then again: Brexit would not have been necessary" I'm not "claiming sovereignty". I'm describing how, in this context, UK sovereignty is applied. What Brexit 'achieved' was the return to Parliament of those delegated authorities (competences) Parliament had granted to the EEC/EU that allowed the EEC/EU to act on the UK's behalf. For example, the authority to negotiate trade agreements, the authority to set tariffs, the authority to set food safety standards, etc. etc. none of which diminished the UK's sovereignty in any way because those delegated competences only existed with Parliament's assent. "EU wouldn't have completely slammed the door in the UK's face when they left" How did the EU do this, exactly? When the UK chose to leave the EU it knew the EU would consider it a "third country" like any other 'third country', even though some people arrogantly believed the UK deserved and would be granted special treatment by a desperate EU, and persuaded voters accordingly. We could have chosen to leave the EU without any further type of formal agreement between the two parties whatsoever. Some idiots even promoted this utter madness. Thankfully, both parties recognised the mutual necessity of negotiating the terms that would govern a new legal relationship. It was hugely regretful and to our lasting disadvantage, that the UK conducted those negotiations so poorly. I could detail very many examples but this is not (despite appearances) a dissertation. Let's be clear though. The EU's responsibility and duty of care to the UK beyond the terms of the new treaties, ceased the second the UK ended it's membership of the EU entirely of its own volition. The EU's responsibility both during and after negotiations was entirely towards the 27 remaining member States and if you feel, as you allege, the EU "completely slammed the door in the UK's face when it left" it was, I'm afraid the consequence of our decision to leave. I desperately want Brexit to succeed, because I want the best for the UK, but that doesn't alter the fact, the core premise behind the argument to leave, 'the restoration of national sovereignty' was and remains a lie.

I dont think Nigel can actually grasp the concept of Brexit and what Brexit means to the normal man on the street. The Germans were the biggest exporters in the world within the EU so why does Nigel think the UK can do better outside the EU when they could not achieve it within the EU
