The film shows a religious point of view and the protestors are also religious. They're not bowing down to religion and this film isn't against a religion. The Sheikh presumably thinks Christianity is false, so if he wishes to censor "falsehood" it's bad news for Christian believers in the Incarnation and Atonement, which Islam denies. Some Christian scholars regard the people they are discussing (Abu Bakr and Fatima) as mythical, as they are drawn from traditions (Hadith) from 9th century Baghdad, two hundred years after the supposed events.

There's even one with a Christ like figure, crosses etc with Muhammad written on it. Then Muhammad means the blessed one.

the famous, Hadith books like "Bukhari" and "Muslim" were collected 200 years, but the Hadiths were traded orally between the people and other books were gathered before, and each true Hadith has many sources all of them reference back to the prophet, collecting the Hadith was a complicated process with lot of restrictions, so no nothing mythical about it.

The best way to deal with it would be to make a film that better suits your values. The film in question is something I actually know nothing about, there are many films that I would not be interested in seeing. In a debate situation if you lose your temper or your passion makes you incoherent, you tend to lose the respect of everyone.

I'm a teacher, the actions of the "Dr" is exactly why I'm immediately distrustful of those who choose to go by such title, unless proven otherwise. If your loved one was working at the cinema getting next to minimum wage would you be happy to kiss them goodbye as they walked out of the door knowing that they were going to work at a cinema when that film was being shown? I can understand why some would feel very nervous and fearful, especially after the demonstrations and after seeing this discussion and the things that were said by the iman on the right. As i understand it he was basically saying there was a good chance of violence or worse if this film was shown (he said that he was trying to prevent it by cancelling the film) its basically a threat or a warning!!! This is not acceptable in the UK. This is wrong.

As for the argument that this is not the attitude of most Muslims, 120,000 apparently signed the petition to have the movie banned from being shown, which is a sizeable number, more importantly I haven't seen anywhere in the press reports of support for showing the film from the majority of peace loving Muslims. The 120,000 though should definitely consider if they made the right choice when they decided to come to Britain.

Firstly, you don't you need to be insulting to them by calling them "beardo's", but that aside, cars need not be flipped or set on fire for a protest to be violent. If protestors make a threat of violence, if they don't get their way, then that in itself is violence. This was the reason the manager capitulated to their demands, probably wisely, but where were the police to enforce British law. This particular section of society has proved on many occasions, not just here in Britain but in several other European countries, that what they say is not just a threat but will become reality if their demands are not met, this is not very British at all mate. The schoolteacher from Bately who dared display a picture of the prophet Mohammed to his class last year remains in hiding for fear of his life. Threatening violence is not the way a Briton would peacefully protest.
