GBO2 Byarlant Isolde: Flying ballerina of doom!

This video contains two matches I had with the LV1 Byarlant Isolde on Gundam Battle Operation 2. It is a 600-650 cost general with full flight ability, excellent mobility, fast downswing animations, very high melee damage, great stagger accumulation and access to multiple melee weapons. Its primary weaknesses would be that it is very large, that it lacks ground affinity unlike other flight suits and that it is fighting in a meta where the Atlas Gundam reigns dominant. This suit has always been a strong suit, just always in the background since the similar Atlas Gundam basically does everything better in addition to it hard countering the Isolde. It requires a lot of experience, but it basically serves as a much stronger 600 cost version of the lower cost Byarlant. Both these matches went really well overall, but I had some silly moments with friendly fire in the second match. I hope that you enjoy watching!
Its primary weapon is an arm beam gun with 400x5 (3000) power, 10%x5 (90%) heat, 0.5 seconds cooldown, 15 seconds overheat, 0.5 seconds swap time, 350m (550m) range, 3.5 seconds focus time and 25%x5 (75%) stagger value. This can be somewhat tricky to aim accurately while trying to avoid being shot mid-air, but it has incredible stagger accumulation and alright DPS.
Its primary melee weapon is a beam saber with 2300 power, 2.5 seconds cooldown, 0.5 seconds swap time and 70% combo modifier. This has fast swap time and alright overall power considering the combo modifier. This really excels in terms of reach though, the downswing goes quite far and can easily hit enemies below you.
Its first sub weapon is a double arm beam gun with 1100x2 power, 75% heat, 3 seconds cooldown, 13 seconds overheat, 0.77 seconds swap time, 450m range and 25%x2 stagger value. This has modest power, good heat and long range. It is a reliable stagger tool which you can even overheat safely if you need an immediate stun.
Its second sub weapon is a set of beam sabers with 2500 power, 2 seconds cooldown, 0.5 seconds swap time and 90%x2 downswing modifier. This has good base power but the downswing modifier means that this will hit incredibly hard. Furthermore; it benefits from having good reach, a very fast start-up animation, fast swap time and shorter than average cooldown time.
At LV1 the Byarlant Isolde has 21500 HP, 20 ballistic resist, 26 beam resist and 20 melee resist. It has high HP with decent resistances, but ends up being squishier than you might expect thanks to it being very wide. It has a 30% reduction buffer for the shoulders and 15% for the back, but this shoulder buffer doesn't hit too often unfortunately. It benefits from having access to LV1 Maneuver Armor and LV3 Emergency Evasion for defensive skills.
In terms of mobility it has 140 hover speed, 220 boost speed, 80 thrust and 75 turning speed. This is good on its own; but while using the touchpad ability LV3 Flight Mode it gets full space movement mechanics, +5 speed, +5 boost speed, -20% thrust usage while boosting and instant stagger resistance (as long as it isn't flying too close to the ground). The downside is that this skill is hard to use effectively in addition to it constantly draining thrust. It also gets access to LV3 Flight Control and LV2 (LV3 at 650 cost) Forced Injectors.
On top of all of this, the Isolde gets access to an interesting gimmick skill called Aerial Immobile Shooting. When you are in flight mode and completely stopped; you deal +50% ranged damage, use -70% less thrust and your stagger accumulation threshold is increased to 500%. This is very powerful on paper but hard to use, I don't have much advice for it since I don't try to risk using it too often.
Overall I feel that while the Isolde is obviously very strong, as it stands right now it can only really compete if the enemy team does not have an Atlas Gundam. For 650 cost the Xeku Zwei also effortlessly counters the Isolde. So right now it wouldn't be a good idea to take it to 600 or 650 cost rated, but I think it will be incredibly powerful once Atlas and Zwei get nerfed. The melee damage is absolutely nuclear, you can often one combo squishier raids and generals. It is really hard to deal with as well on maps like Colony Drop or Arctic Base where you can constantly dip in and out of cover. It is worth practicing it in preparation for the Atlas/Zwei nerfs at the end of November, it will probably feel very familiar if you are already good with the 500-550 cost Byarlant. Tip for byarlant and byarlant isolde: their dual beam sabers neutral hitbox extends BELOW the suit itself and is rather good at snagging a ms for a full combo while in flightmode above them (simply swap to either single beam saber or the dual mega partical cannons) its particularly good on ruined city where you can quite easily get above someone while you but can work on most maps imo

i've been waiting for this video sever since i wanted this suit, the byarlant isolde is a solid suit and when i got it(1 month ago) it seems pretty easy to handle for first timers unless u suck at melee(which apparently i do) this suit took me 1 year and a few months to get so i must say it's worth it for me, also this is my top 2 favourite ms.

I've been using 500 cost Byarlant, though my gameplay is more of a annoyance from the sky, it indeed are fun to use. Fought same guy three times, he just gave up like the ones on 4:40

I need help on how to play the Byarlant variants, especially the 700 cost Byarlant Custom.I figured the "flying pest" strat works, but i tend to get shot out the sky. I also tried to hover low to the ground and play the hit & run game. If anyone has any tips, let me know plz. :)

The B. Custom requires an extremely good pilot to be effective. You have to learn where is a good spot to land and when to launch an attack due to its poor defenses relative to its size. Higher tier players opt for an overheat build for the B. Custom that allows it to have a 3-4 second overheat timer and thanks to I think the level 2 or 3 Emergency Evasion it gets at 650 it can allow a lot of dodgeroll spam to intentionally overheat the thrusters or just for general dodgeroll usage. It helps to be really good at space controls as well because if you don't utilize going up and down with your flight you are handicapping yourself and making yourself an easy target. Avenger has 2 videos on the B. Custom if you want to go check those out for general gameplay guides but be warned, you need to have a team that will draw the heat away from you as per usual with heavy attack raids. Generally try to stay in flight because the Lvl 4 flight gives you insane stun resistances as well.

Well you can't really compare them directly cause they are different costs, but I would say Isolde is better relative to cost. Byarlant needs a lot of skill and still won't get super spectacular results. Isolde needs skill sure, but it has nearly limitless potential in comparison.

@@kcireX09 I think it should be buffed in such a way that it doesn't become an OP 500 cost Isolde, but still balanced. Right now the major weaknesses of Byarlant is that it only has 16k HP, no Forced Injectors, long cooldown for dual beam sabers, stun accumulation weakness while flying (takes just 80% stagger to shoot it down), only 65 thrust and only 5 mid range slots. I would look to improve some of these weaknesses but leave others intact, cause it is a 500-550 coster after all. So maybe +5 thrust, LV1 Forced Injectors, LV2 Forced Injectors for the 550 cost version, 3 seconds cooldown for the dual sabers, LV3 Flight System for the 550 cost version (removes the stun accumulation weakness and slightly improves thruster consumption) and 70% combo modifier for the single beam saber. Stun accumulation at these costs is really strong, so Forced Injectors would give you better ways to avoid it by simply dodging it. LV3 Flight System and LV2 Forced Injectors for the 550 cost version would account for the even better stun accumulation at this cost. For this risk you don't do massive amounts of melee damage either, so improving the dual saber cooldown and saber combo mod would give it better ways to do big melee burst damage. +5 thrust would improve build flexibility by letting you spend some of your slots on other things, also improving your flight time and thrust reserves for evasive maneuvers. It would still be squishy as hell and hard to play, so it would probably be fair. Don't be so sure about me not playing it soon either. No guarantees of course but I have been playing it recently with some decent success. It might happen within the next month or two.

@@avenger1_gbo260 Good to hear I'm not the only one who thinks Byarlant needs a buff, I'm a huge fan of Byarlant models even though I never got lucky with a Custom or Isolde (but had a Level 3 on PS5 which sucks 'cause I hate 700 cost) and sometimes I perform really well with the normal Byarlant at 500-550 but like you said, it has way too many shortcomings, not to mention it's very fragile, drops like a fly and not enough thrusters for a flying suit.

Think of activating flight like stopping a boost, you can cancel it with a melee swing. It doesn't take any complicated inputs, you just swing your melee weapon like normal.
