Titans showed their true colors as nothing more than Ghiren Zabi's flavor of Zeonism, but for oldtypes. Hell, one of the suits the Byarlant fights in this scene is a Marasai; one of hundreds of Zaku 2.5's the Titans used to larp as Zeon before the Federation unceremoniously dumped them into the ranks of Axis Zeon's mobile suit corps because what does it mean to "scuttle" a machine, anyway?

@@fuethao7236 There's also the meta problem that it's not uncommon for the writers/ animators to have certain mobile suits and/or factions act as total jobbers for whole scenes if not whole series. Like, on paper the MS may have amazing technical specs and off-screen the MS may have actually been very good and useful, but in the limited run time of an animated series or whatever, not every mobile suit will get its fair shake for us to actually see all that. Like take for example for the GM. The GM was a genuinely good mobile suit and it did actually do well in the One-Year war and many other related conflicts, and we even get to see it be badass from time to time, but it's most often remembered as the literal Red Shirt mech cause it got destroyed so often compared to Zeon MS, where they only died thanks to the main characters and their main character powers and having a Gundam, the resident Super Robot of the show. It also doesn't help that there was the in-universe problem that Federation pilots were overall much less skilled/ had far less training, which ties into the point you made, so of course we're gonna see so many GMs die, because the Federation isn't training their dang pilots properly.

That mobile suit is from Zeta Gundam. Well mostly (it's been modified). In Zeta Gundam the main focus of the arms race revolved around mobility. It's why many of them can transform into planes to fly for real or look weird while being the most dexterous high flying menace there. Or both. And yes, they do move through space with propulsion and balance. Some of the older anime really show it off.

if you haven't noticed the beam weaponry the Byarlant was using was low-yield(because it's a prototype for testing and to gather data) that's why it has to fire numerous more shots just to penetrate one And the only one that is most effective is it's melee weapon because the energy concentrate enough It's under-armed at that time. the only reason it manages to go toe-to-toe is because of the skills and experience of the pilot currently using it Heck that bad boy wasn't even new it's just improved over decade
