This video contains two matches I had with the LV1 and LV2 GM Quel on Gundam Battle Operation 2. It is a 400-500 cost raid with excellent strafing speed, an easy to use loadout, a throwable flash grenade that can instant stagger alongside it basically being able to play as a general as the need arises. Its weaknesses would be mediocre durability, mediocre melee damage, poor stun accumulation ability, high heat on the beam rifle and no real mid-range poking ability. This suit feels really unremarkable to play, it is basically a raid version of the GM Custom. It can carry the same beam rifle, has similar mobility (outside of also getting extra boost speed and Forced Injectors), has a similar reliance on combo swings and it also visually looks very similar at a glance. You aren't gonna be going on a rampage with high melee damage or anything with this suit, though you can make use of your great strafing ability to easily move around the team-fight. Both these matches went really well, though what I said about the poor melee damage will become readily apparent in the first match. I hope that you enjoy watching!
Its primary weapon at LV1 is a GM II beam rifle with 1500 power, 3.5 seconds cooldown, 90% heat, 17 seconds overheat, 0.77 seconds swap time, 300m range and 10% stagger value. This instantly staggers and has short cooldown time, though the 90% heat means you have a long effective cooldown time between shots unless you want to overheat it. This gives you more flexibility than a bazooka but the long overheat time can be an issue.
Its primary melee weapon at LV1 is a beam saber with 1900 power, 2.5 seconds cooldown, 0.77 seconds swap time and 70%/49% combo modifier. This has the easy to use Federation moveset alongside decent combo modifier, but the low base power means that you won't be doing much damage. You can overheat your beam rifle after a neutral side neutral melee combo to restagger them, but this of course leaves you vulnerable and without a stun temporarily.
Its first sub weapon is a regular head vulcan with 67 power, 30 ammo, 150m range, 498 DPS and 2% stagger value. This weapon is really trashy, with poor damage and inability to stagger enemies. This is only useful to finish off super low HP enemies.
Its second sub weapon is a hand grenade with 1100 power, 3 ammo, 2.5 seconds cooldown, 13 seconds reload, 1 second swap time and 50% stagger value. This has mediocre damage per shot but short cooldown time, making it alright at just getting damage out there when you can't close for melee.
Its third sub weapon is a thrown flash grenade with 0 power, 1 ammo, 14 seconds reload, 1 second swap time and 0% stagger value. This doesn't deal damage and lacks any stagger accumulation, but it can instantly stagger. This follows the same rules as the Dom flash beam, it needs to hit the front of the enemy and it can't hit a shield.
It also has a large shield with 3000 HP. This improves your survivability a little bit, but it boosts your walking and turning speed by 15% once broken.
The LV1 GM Quel has 14000 HP and 14 in every resistance. This is a little bit squishy, especially when considering how much damage the most dangerous generals can deal at 400 cost. If you blunder and end up caught in a melee combo then you are definitely losing most of if not all of your HP. It has LV2 Maneuver Armor and LV1 Emergency Evasion for defensive skills.
In terms of mobility it has 130 walk speed, 205 boosting speed, 65 thrust and 66 turning speed. This is decent mobility at a first glance, but it is even better than it first appears thanks to the suit walking side to side at 100% speed and backwards at 95% speed. Compared to the basic 80% and 70%, this makes you really good at strafing in and around cover. It also has LV1 Forced Injector.
Overall I feel like the GM Quel is just too weak to be used seriously. It doesn't have particularly good stagger ability, lacks a way to stun the transforming tank duo of 400 cost, lacks the melee damage needed to quickly put away supports alongside not being durable at all. In a 400 cost meta where even much better equipped raids are struggling to deal with overtuned generals, the Quel has absolutely no place. I think that it has deserved an extensive buff for a long time. I think that it should get 80%/64% combo modifier, 145% downswing modifier, unique vulcans with better stagger power and +1000 HP. This alone probably wouldn't be enough, so I think it might also be cool if it got the Hazel beam rifle as an alternate primary option. It used this weapon in Advance of Zeta, and it would fix the problems it has with the high heat GM II beam rifle. In its current state I really can't recommend the GM Quel unless you are needing an easy to play raid, or unless you want to handicap yourself by playing a weak suit. Thanks for watching, and I hope that you enjoyed it!
