That first shunt seems a colossal waste of time? Is the turnout from the Down Main onto the branch too tight? Surely the S&C could be improved to save hours and hours cumulatively.

What is the alarm sounding when reversing
@Ashworth-Media
@Ashworth-Media 11 күн бұрын
@@davidfloyd3766 the alarm is not from the train but if you look at the fence next to the track on the crossing you will see a small box, the alarm is sounding because there are no crossing gates at this location
@fastlinegrid
@fastlinegrid 11 күн бұрын
The beeping you can hear when the train is reversing at horrocksford and before the crossing is turned on is the ‘confidence tone’ on the Shunter’s radio, it saves them having to call the train back verbally and if the sound stops the train driver (ie me in this video) will come to a stop as it could mean the shunter has fallen or I’ve lost communication with him

@Ashworth-Media I rather see people in work wich would be more likely to get the uk back on its feet Instead of finding ways to reduce the number of people to have to pay or worring about Road traffic with enough people back in a job there would be the means and the justification for the road networks to be improved like thay are doing with the cornwall a30

@brickleyyard4966 Rail transport for this application is a no brainier for efficiency and reducing emissions. For this application they were five people involved in this movement withe the driver, the signal man, the two shunting technicians and a supervisor. There would been many people who would have interacted with this train on its journey north . I have always favoured the A30 to get down to Cornwall.

This has to be the most boring of all youtube offerings. Fascinating to watch - a type of self harming punishment for not having the will to get up and do something constructive. The point changing was the highlight. The way that little disc turned was the highlight, and then, out of nowhere, the orange man appears unannounced, as though he had been hiding in the bushes waiting to jump out on the driver and scare him to death. But that was not all: !! There, written in the sign by the crossing to nowhere, was the postcode of the points. Brilliant. Even the grid reference. A nod to the past before the first satellite was sent skyward to map the world. Then, the coup de grace, the reminder stamped on the train about prostate cancer so that the exhilaration of the train shunting, was tempered with our mortality and big pharma’s daily doom laden reminder to contribute to their multibillion pound donation system to keep them in luxury. Well done. I’m going to download this for posterity.

@geoffcapper769 Not sorry to offend, what did you expect, a freshly imported Bullet Train to be shunting wagons over a remote countryside level crossing? On reflection, your time could have been better spent researching the correct use of the words to and too. Myself, I found it a very interesting video, albeit some of the camera angles over signage and those too close to the train at times, could be dramatically improved. Thanks to AM.
