For more clarification: this happens because the game allows a 2 frame buffer for multi-input actions. For example; if you press L+U to get a throw, but you do the U input 2 frames late, you'll still get the throw. However, be careful as the throw will actually start once the U input is done instead of being buffered when the L input was done, essentially delaying it by 2 frames, which can make you delay throw punishes when you're +4. This cancelling effect can be done with any actions that require multiple inputs; Neutral+Skill, M+H, L+U, ect. However, you can't cancel an action by doing an input if the initial input itself was not part of the action. For example, you can't cancel a H+Skill action with a throw as Throw is not part of H+Skill. You can however cancel a throw into an SBA by doing Throw then Skill 1-2 frames later. The only exception to this rule is that every neutrals can be canceled into a spot dodge. The only useful application for this is when an input was made 1-2 frames before a superflash of an SBA as it'll allow you to cancel the initial action. In every other scenarios, you're only essentially delaying the action.

Before the nier nerfs, the kara cancel was actually able to be used to cancel to ssba, allowing Nier to basically get technical input SSBA damage in her combos

Sick use of Kara cancels. Idk if you knew, but just wanted to point out because the clip, you can double evade Vira's punishment ray and get punishes from like half screen! 👍

Is there a way to setup a meaty hit then kara it if something happened?

Unless your normal is ungodly fast, no (since you'd be out of the kara window by the time it's actually active).

wait wait wait, is this how I keep DP'ing Avatar Belial's command grab super by "luck", even though the attack happens instantly (0 frames) after the superflash?

Kara cancels are also generally great if you can Kara cancel after the moves movement beings. This lets you connect specials where they wouldn’t typically and affects routes. Idk if they exist that way in this game, just thinking about pots Kara canceled 6k

You can cancel into a DP, might as well spam DP after a superflash if you got caught mashing as well

I'll have play around with this a bit, but this is universal right? Not just Ava Belial tech right? How do I know if I did it right as I'm messing around with this with some characters in training starting with say Gran. I'm doing some of the examples in the video but how do I know if I karad normal into a throw or rs with it out looking like just did those moves raw? You can also do it during the superflashes which are more helpful but I can't seem to know if I'm doing it right outside of that situtation.

This is a universal mechanic. I recommend pausing the game the same frame you press an attack and hiding the menu to get to know what that first frame looks like. Or, turn on input log in training mode and you'll know if you kara'd (let's say you do heavy into throw) if you see the top 2 inputs show: (??) H TH 1-2 H Since it's a 2 frame input, as long as the 2nd input shows a 1-2 with a button above it, you should have done it.

@@AblazZeGuy Apricate the help. I got to understand way better now and seem to be able to understand and do it somewhat more consistently. A cool tech for sure but aside from canceling Normals into things, the specials into specials into specials might a more niche use like you said but it would be the same idea right to try and execute it. Do a special move, pause to see the first frame of the special and then cancel another special move. Also, along with that can you kara cancel simple input special moves as well as say you kara cancel a normal into a dp (which that I almost got that down but not yet outside of superflashes but should be like the same example you showed before.) does it have to always be a normal input or can you simple input it?
@AblazZeGuyКүн бұрын
Yeah, you can use simple inputs

Did this guy start playing fighting games yesterday? What do you mean by "Surprisingly" Street Fighter has Kara cancels? Have you ever heard of Sagat? Without Street Fighter, Kara cancels don't exist. That's where they started in Street Fighter 2

@JacobK01 bro Street Fighter has had kara cancels in every installment since SF2, they invented the damn mechanic (although by mistake since it was a glitch). So how the hell would it be a surprise if SF6 had Kara cancels?
