Great talk and all good points, even if I have seen many games doing very well on Steam while having trailers with less than 100K views. I get the idea behind that, but marketing is not always something so linear, especially for games.

Thanks guys, great insights, but what about early access schemes, isn't it supposed to work a bit differently with them? I mean, more evolutionary than 'make or break'? An EA release doesn't count as your first and last chance to make it or break it, does it? Also I've often been told you should 'make your trailer as early as possible' (in my case, this is probably more sensible since I'm looking to create a Kickstarter campaign a few month before that EA release). Any tips appreciated, thanks! :)
