If you could invent a selective herbicide for Quackgrass I would be you best customer. From picking and pulling I have gotten it out of my front yard, but it still is very patchy across about half my backyard. I am going to try one more season of picking and pulling and try to choke it out again fall. Then if it still has the best of me, perhaps a reno.
@GCITurf2 жыл бұрын
From a Purdue unniversity write up..... Unfortunately, only nonselective control options exist for quackgrass control in cool-season turf. Spot-treating with a nonselective systemic herbicide such as glyphosate (Roundup) will help to manage quackgrass in cool-season lawns. Results are best when applications are made while the weedy plants are young, fully green, actively growing, and not under drought stress. At least two glyphosate applications are recommended, but three or more may be needed since this is a rhizomatous grass. You must allow the weed to regrow before making a follow-up application.

Following your videos, advice, and guides I did a full renovation last fall and now have a dark green thick and healthy TTTF lawn. I get comments on it all the time. It thrived in the spring and has stayed dark green all summer, not bad for southeast Tennessee. Staying on top of it I sprayed pre-emergent at the best time possible and only have a few crabgrass plants around the edges that get plucked as soon as I seem them ( I did apply a little too much so no over-seed this fall). I have such little weed pressure that I won't be spraying a blanket broadleaf this year. I keep getting ask what I did to get my grass so green and I tell them that I had to start from scratch and I always send them to GCI for seed and Information. I say all this to say simply Thank you Pete. You're extremely helpful people like me with no prior experience in lawn management. You are full of information and an excellent teacher and presenter.
