I agree that the calories burnt during the HIIT and casual cycling is similar with what you mentioned. But what about the afterburn effect? Every calorie counts right? I think the focus of that video is short and intense workout, thus HIIT, can burn as much calories as long and slow workout. Especially, not everyone has the time to do the long and slow workout. The excessive eating after HIIT is simple the lack of discipline of the indivudual. There are also people who do carbohydrates loading before a long workout. If you have 30 minute to 1 hour a day to workout, you can possibly split up the timing and fit 2 HIIT sessions in. I guess it's up to individual what kind of workout they prefer. I hate running for even 15 minutes, but I don't mind cycle for 1 hour. Just find the workout that you enjoy and continue doing it..
