It’s an interesting choice for Ollie and has to be some discount/partnership things at play or he had to pay out of pocket. I do like the bike and Pinerellos in general. To me, an Ultegra Di2 bike is usually the sweet spot. I’m glad they came out with the endurance version with the same tube profiles for us less flexible riders.

I lived in Treviso for over 25 years. I went to pick up my first Pinarello in 1984 and saw it had a 52-42 on the front and a 13-23 cassette. I mentioned to Fausto's father, "Nani" Pinarello, that I wanted to ride the Stelvio pass and that the gearing looked a bit challenging. Nani took one look at me and said "Ok, we'll dig out a 26 tooth rear cog, you'll be able to climb a vertical wall with that". How times have changed.

Hahaha that's awesome. Road cyclists aren't known to embrace change :)

Indeed, bike those days built with quality frames and component. I always said to the newbies, If your bike are good, you dont need a 34 cassette to climb a 8% gradient hills. Now we have 34 so that it covered up the bad built of the frame and sell you a very high price.

@@gcntech It wasn't even a cassette in 1984 but a six-speed screw-on freewheel. I did keep the 26 tooth cog but, unknown to Nani, paired it with a French Stronglight 49D chainset with 42-26 rings. I still couldn't ride up walls but did get to the top of the Stelvio. The steel Montello SLX frameset was a banger, by the way. I met a guy riding one just the other day. I still have a Pinarello Gavia, the same model Chioccioli won the Giro on. A 35 year old Gavia but still a Pinarello.
