We are at a point where bike tech has plateaued. New products offer very little for what they cost and for the most part they feel like cosmetic changes. IMO, unless the UCI revises the current regulations, cycling as a sport will be at the risk of stalling because right now there's very little room left for improvement.

The mechanics are used to using heavy degreaser after every stage. And oil just falls of using it. And there are pretty good options on the oil side too. And in the wet i think a wet oil is superiour. I find waxing good for the regular consumer that doesn't wash his bike everyday, like me 😅
@dakalla10 ай бұрын
In the wet oil is only superior on long rides. As soon as the wax uses off, its not possible to rewax with a drip on wax, as the chain has to be dry for the wax to stick. But I did 150k-180k rides in pouring rain on a hot waxed chain without a problem. A candle will not dissolve in water either ;) Just wipe it off afterwards, rewax and youre good to go again. However on ultra endurance races, where i expect rain even just once, i put my oil chain on from the beginning with the one and only silca synergetic. Seems to run quiet forever!
@Eirikkinserdal10 ай бұрын
As i said i use wax. But i can see why some teams use oil 😅

Those shiny shoes might actually be helpful in australia due to the brutal sun. Except for special engineered paint like barium sulfate/calcium carbonate microspheres, an aluminium foil covered, but still breathable, shoe might reflect light as well as effectively transport heat from inside the shoe outside. I wonder though, why are there no cycling shoes with special frontal air intakes like ICE race cars. Do pro-cyclists sweat very little or are the little holes on the side enough and do not impact aerodynamics too much?
