GCR Brackley to Quainton Road fly-through

Using Google Earth imagery, we fly along the course of the former Great Central Railway (GCR), from Brackley in Northants, to Quainton Road in Bucks, now home to the Buckinghamshire Railway Centre.

I remember that until fairly recently that the Brackley Central Station was still being used as a garage. Looks like they demolished it since I was last there.

That is a lot of tracks to be refurbished and put into use

It's not being refurbished: a completely new railway formation is being built since the old railway has utterly gone.

Most of this track bed to be replaced by HS2 soon.

they are filling in badger sets and cutting all the trees down along the line as i speak

As well as that the Oxford to Bletchley line is being rebuilt as the EWR line.

What a waste letting that line rust away. A sad testiment to peoples love affair with the car.
