So in reinforced concrete, we have the reinforcement as the concrete and the steel bars as the matrix?

No, other way round. Remember the matrix is the binder material, think of almost the muscles surrounding a skeleton, while the reinforcement would be the bones. Hope that helps.

hello, when you say the composites have different properties to the materials in them (2:22) is it the same idea as a compound has different properties than the elements it is made from?
