Suzanne i.e. Susie Ma is a British-Chinese skincare entrepreneur, philanthropist and Forbes 30 Under 30 honouree. She is known for her appearances on the seventh season of the BBC television series The Apprentice in 2011, where despite coming in third place, she secured investment from Lord Alan Sugar. Her company, Tropic Skincare, has been recognised as the fastest growing skincare brand in the UK, selling 3.3 million products per year. Has a great podcast episode with the High Performance Podcast, should listen. Really evolved into an astute business woman. Jim is hilarious though.

Shame she's giving away 50% of all her earnings for a 250k startup investment from Sugar, eh? Suppose at those numbers you don't really notice losing a few million, but it was a terrible business decision.

@mydogeatspuke2 жыл бұрын
@@HoneyBadgarDontGive aye, she could have even started smaller if accessing the money was difficult. Plenty of companies start on sites like Etsy and still end up in department stores, no idea why she had no other alternative but to take a bad deal. Perhaps she's good at marketing (as is everyone on social media these days) but not particularly business minded. I just can't imagine a world where a quarter mil is worth a 50% cut of every single penny she earns for the rest of her life. Excellent for him though, explains why he's so rich. 250k is definitely shrapnel for him. Fund a few eager youth pipedreams, one lands, make back 10 times the investment in no time at all.

as a southerner, this is classic jumped up northern behaviour from Jim. the smell of passive aggressiveness off him is unbelievable

Jim is so obviously just a giant misogynist, calling Susan meek and a mouse when she is standing up for herself, she’s just calm, polite and gentle so they view her as being incapable. Jim especially has such a sense of self importance that he’s targeting the quiet woman because he thinks she’s easier to steam roller and place the blame on. Lord Sugar even says she needs to stop blaming it on her age because no one used to treat him like that, but the difference is that he is s white man, it feels to me that there is a lot of bias controlling Jim’s opinions here, rather than fact. He says she lacks passion and enthusiasm but you can clearly see that she has it, Jim is just disregarding everything she says. His targets here are clearly all personal.

The description of her being a mouse is simply used to show she lacks confidence in the actual process. Anyone can easily say they have this and that in the boardroom, where every word will affect your chances of being fired. Not everything is misogyny (backed up by the multitude of woman who have thrived in the appentice) so stop making it seem like people have some underlying prejudice against women.

@@johnwilliams3982 other women being successful doesn't mean that one man involved isn't a misogynist. There isn't a link between the two statements.

@@mydogeatspuke always perplexes me when people start off with "this problem is happening" but when challenged resort to "it's still possible" , yet act just as - if not more grounded, in their conclusions.

@@mydogeatspuke Of course. my bad. I just wanted to show women could do well too and people shouldn't think just because someone has problems with a female in any situation... It's simply misogyny. But yeah, just because others are not misogynistic it doesn't mean JIm automatically is too.

@@johnwilliams3982 you, a man, "just wanted to show women could do well too," by gatekeeping what misogyny means, and speaking on behalf of another man, because apparently you all share the same brain. Yeah, I can totally see how that would seem reasonable to you and not at all condescending, inappropriate, or any of your fkn business. You were just blessing total strangers with your manly opinion, by correcting the silly women who think everything is a man's fault.

I love watching these back-stabbing, clueless, priviledged snakes throw each other under the bus just to protect their own backsides. Just the type of business management UK industry DOESN'T need.
